Super Half Vamp Riku
I don't see one so I'll make an official Final Fantasy thread to discuss the amazingness of the series. Imo, final fantasy hasn't been at it's best since FFX after that it got kinda bad, I didn't like XII and XIII felt only luke warm compared to the heat and intesity of IV, VI, VII, and VIII(the best titles in my opinion.). Spoon
I like how you fail to mention Final Fantasy IX, the best game in existance Well, what to say about my favourite video game franchise of all time? They're definitely moving in the wrong direction. I always appreciated that they try to create something new and refreshing with every installment, and what was succesful with X and XII (it was a good game, though the story was bit lackluster) failed horribly with XIII. Not that it was a bad game, by no means, but it failed to deliver the FF feeling I'm used to, especially after you could finally roam freely in the second part of the game. Still, it had it's plusses: Even though it played like a trainwreck (straightforward, nothing to stop you), it got you "on the hook", with it's cinematic appearance and a decent storyline you had the feeling of playing a movie. Not an entirely bad thing. It falls flat on it's but with the battle system, which is a little boring, and the post-game content (something Final Fantasy games always managed to get out in large numbers) was just boring and uninspired. And even though a "back to the roots" would be kinda wonderful: Square, don't do it! Don't listen to the people who want a FF VII remake so badly they would seell their souls to you, just deliver a good game! Oh, and get back a world map, that would be nice, I want things to explore
Bahamut - Envoy of the End
Not liking the lack of FF7 in this thread so far. Have played III, IV, V, VII, IX, X (X2) and XII. Didn't really like V because it felt too samey to 3, and a backstep from 4. 7 and 9 had just the most epic characters and were fantastic adventures, and goes without saying had the best baddies. Definately my two faves. 10 there was just so much depth to it was unreal. All combat was a bit meh in that one, but the story was heartpulling. Auron is badass, Rikku is cute. Didn't understand a lot of twelve, too political a storyline. As for battling, walking into fights was good but the gambit system , made me feel really uninvolved. If you set them diffensive enough you could enter a boss battle then walk off, eat your dinner, come back and find you've won. That ain't right. Summons were pants too, never used them. However, it had one major plus. The Hunters Guild, that was an epic side quest though.
Resident Fascist
I,II,IV,VI,VII,VII,IX And X where the best. The combat system in 10 is meh? It's one of the best in the series. You arn't rushed into mashing buttons like some of the Other ones.

Resident Fascist
I sort of disliked 7, It's definately good, but it's not the best RPG ever made. It just has a whiney fanbase that doesn't shut up. IMO 9 was much better than 7, but that's just me.
It didn't feel like you were fighting for your life, and having to make split life or death decisions in battle. It was, 'Well its my turn to move against this savage beast that is just standing there, now I could... nahhh... maybe I should.... no I can see that delays my next move....... fiend is still waiting for me.... I'll just do this.' Oh yeah, the other redeeming feature of XII, Balthier. Is so freaking cool. "It appears that I have soiled my cuffs. Yes, not just best Final Fantasy, for me this is the game. It's lovely, well-developed characters, it's charm, the most... badass... "villain"... ever (No, I'm of course not talking about Kuja... go figure ), the backgrounds, the story, the environments, Tetra Master, the friggin music (I have the Soundtrack on 4 disks at home, it's like having an eargasm each time I hear "Rose of May"), just round about everything is perfect about this game. I don't want a remake, I demand the FF VII fanboys to shut the hell up. Maybe Part VII was the game that made the games popular for a wide audience, maybe it was groundbreaking for it's time, but this, ladies and gentlemen, is perfection. Actually, I feel like replaying it just now... it's almost a year since I did About the FF X fighting system: It was refreshing to see them go back to the roots, taking a slower pace. Gameplaywise, that game was pretty good, just the characters felt a little... odd. Tidus wasn't exactly what I call a likeable character, but hey, at least we had Auron. The story was pretty well told, though it lacked a little depth here and there... whatever.
J-Max
I used to love VII but these days it's just plain overhyped. I agree with Spoon on IX though. The cast of Characters were really diverse with Steiner a [ersonal fave. Dammit you're making me want to do a "Final Fantasy Evolution" Card set now lol. They're going to concentrate on the western audience and what the formerly studio of Eidos has to offer for them (the new Lara Croft and stuff like that). I myself am not really looking forward to this years E3, there isn't really anything I'm excited about or that could just maybe be announced (unless Ubisoft shows Beyond Good & Evil 2... then I have to scream for joy). Super Half Vamp Riku
Yeah, this is why Japans video game industry is in such a bad state. They focus on to much on there own country without considering how much more they could make by focusing internationally.

Final Fantasy XII and XIII did concentrate on a more casual and international audience, with quite a (financial) success actually. The only thing they didn't quite nail down yet is the marketing. They keep trying to appeal to a wide audience... but they're just not forcing it onto the consumer. Super Half Vamp Riku
Yeah, but has anyone noticed how girlish and gay the series has gotten in the past 5 or 6 years. Look at Vaan's design and Titus' design in Dissidia 012.
Resident Fascist
Dissidia 012 should have had cameos from other Square series. Oh: "To me even lions are little more than Kittens." "Your Hair is a distraction!" "Inside your head...Is the void!" Shantotto is the best FF character. EVER.

MarbleZone
I wanted to love IX... but I couldn't. It was impossible to take that cast seriously. Final Fantasy VII, VI and X were my favourites; VIII could have been so good if it didn't spiral down into a disaster of a plot after the Edea assassination attempt. Spoon
Yeah, they should have Dragon Quest and Kingdom Hearts characters mixed in. And maybe Star Ocean characters.
Star Ocean is a property of Tri-Ace, Square-Enix is mearly the publisher... you know, Tri-Ace, the company who makes the good games nowadays Seriously, Resonance of Fate (not even published by Square anymore, but by Sega) beat FF XIII last year by miles, can't deny awesomeness when you see it. Don't know if cameos like that would've really helped the game, I like the Dissidia franchise how it currently is. Sure, more characters are always fun, but I think the choice wasn't that bad, since I found 3 of the 8 new characters so enjoyable, that they made it into my team instantly (Terra and Zidane from the old game, Prishe, Tifa and Kain from the new one). Also, about the "girlish" thingy: What do you expect? We're talking about friggin Tetsuya Nomura right now, he doesn't know any better. Back when Amano did it... ah, the nostalgia... I think I have to go and inhale some artworks right now
Resident Fascist
I need a Good RPG to play that isn't by Square Enix. OT: How is Seymour Flux hard? I think he's one of the easiest bosses in the game. Just Dispel his reflect, when he does his WTFUltimate, just use a Mega Pheonix. Yuna's Overdrives absolutely murder him, and if you have Blitz ace for Tidus he's easy.
