Meklord Astro Mekanikle

This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. This card cannot be Special Summoned except by sending 3 other "Meklord" monsters from your hand to the Graveyard. Once per turn, you can select 1 face-up Synchro Monster your opponent controls, and equip it to this card. This card gains ATK equal to those equipped monsters' combined ATK. Once per turn, during your Standby Phase, you can send 1 of those monsters to the Graveyard to inflict damage to your opponent equal to its ATK. You cannot conduct your Battle Phase the turn you activate this effect.

So I heard a while back that the God Cards had a set release time apart from the other. However, a different card replaced the slot where was supposed to be released. In other words this card is why we don't have a playable Slifer.....

Yes it was, yes it was. : V

Though it's still got the potential to be a nice show-stopper still, though it's gonna need a deck built purely around it.

(Why do I get the feeling some jokers are going to try Synchro Summoning, using Shien's Spy, and then using the result as burn damage?)

EDIT: And remember: The "Meklord Army" monsters count for this guy, too, so getting him out is a lot easier than it sounds.

That would count toward, lessee . . . Meklord Army of Wisel and Asterisk. Which makes a total of 2 things it can target, at least one of which you're more than likely to have more than one of in your deck (Army). So yeah, definitely easier to summon than it looks. Remarkably easier.
EDIT: Curse my memory.

Montage Dragon is better.

How so? Montage is dependant on the levels of the sent monsters, where as this just has a flat-out 4000 ATK/DEF. Plus, it has the potential to burn for 2000+ damage(Of course, it skips your battle phase and has a weird-ass stand-by-phase-only activation)

Purely because you could discard 3 Level 8s for 7200 ATK, and use other retrieval options like Dark Factory of Mass Production (if you ditched Level 8 Normals).

But okay, I'll elaborate.

Both Montage and Cubic require you to discard 3 monsters, to Special Summon itself from your hand. Mekanikle requires Meklords, of which there are 8: Skiel, Wisel, Granl, the 3 Army, Asterisk, and a copy of itself. Fortunately, they're decent-to-good on their own, but they lack good archetype support.

Montage can use any monsters and so long as you discard 14 levels, you'll exceed Mekanikle's base attack. The flexibility of the discard options, even for lower attack, makes it easier to use in my eyes, while Mekanikle is more specific.

Mekanikle really shines if you're against Synchro monsters, but for that effect, I'd rather be using the Meklord Emperors, rather than the Astro. Wisel, Skiel, and Granel are just easier to use than this, and the Burn effect, while a nice finisher, just doesn't have any real use unless you absorbed a Synchro, and if you did, you're wielding a 6000+ beatstick anyway.

So it's slightly less that Montage > Mekanikle as much as Mekanikle is just a subpar boss monster that's a -3 and the other -3 boss is a lot easier to use.
