Niv-Mizzet
Easier to get. I've got like 4 Stoic and 8 of this.
-Lightray Daedalus-
TBQH is BAD...plain Bad...Even Stoic Rebuttal Shouldn't be run at more than 1... Problem is... 1) It is in the same format as Mana Leak and that's one of the best Clasic Counterspells around. 2) IIRC there are only 2 Counterspells with Converted Mana Cost 3 or Higher that are worth playing: First the Best counter of all: Second:
MarbleZone
Mana Leak is preferable in just about every situation, really. I don't know if it's still in Standard, has it been reprinted in M12? Haven't been keeping in touch. In my opinion, even most soft counters are better than Cancel; any counter with 3 CMC just isn't reliable enough. Flame Dragon
http://www.channelfireball.com/home/magic-tv-top-8-of-the-week-best-counter-spells/ Because the topic relates. Anyway, base line counter spell. Unless counter spell returns (it's not) this should always be in the core sets.
