With Standard rotating I want to see what I can do with Tempered Steel in the new world. Still a work in progress so suggestions welcomed. Just explain the reason for the changes.

Isn't 4 Opal Overkill a bit?

Other than that I see Boros Steel being this decks Evolved for quite easily

Maybe a little. If anything I'd cut one for another land. This deck doesn't need many, but cutting to many is never good.


It possible. With Curse of Stalked Prey and Hero of Oxid Ridge the deck can be a lot stronger.

Curious how it could be done though, so I threw this together.

I'd personally don't want to cut to many of the artifacts though. ATM if I would cut anything it would be the Thopter and at that point Tempered Steel just looks pointless in a deck of 12 artifacts.

You can Neg 2 Opals and that Myrsmith for 4 new Creatures...XD

You can even Run Immolating Soul Eater or Something

Also I think I'd run 2 of each Heroe...you can't Posibly Pass of Hero of the Bladehold

Taking Opal out is the last thing you want to do in a land light deck running 2 colors.


Posted the Boros version and cut the Smith in favor of Oxid Ridge. Soul Eater would be decent in a Boros version, but personally the evasion is more helpful.

Know what, will try splashing red in the main version for these changes

The Problem with Opal is that it is legendary and is a terrible topdeck when you already have 1 on the field...and I know this coz My friend had to drop a game coz of having 2 Opals in Hand while he already had 1 out...>_< otherwise he woul have drew better stuff to win...XD

I have never ever saw any version of Tempered Steel with more than 2 Opals too

It happens, but it's a risk you just need to take. I mean in an aggressive deck like this you shouldn't have THAT much time to draw multiple Opals. Especially in any deck splashing a color since you need more colors.
