Why is his death so much more tragic then those in 3rd World countries who die of curable diseases? Yeah, death sucks, but I'm not going to pretend that I care about someone I've never met.

Because he's played a significant role in how tech has changed in the past few decades. And even if you don't know him, he's well known, so there is a difference. Plus he was a tech dude, so people that go to these kinds of forums would be more interested in this then the normal person. I mean, just think about how people reacted with MJ's death. Really, whenever someone famous dies this happens.

That's the thing. It isn't. A death is a death, no matter whose it is. I do not mourn his death as much as I commemorate his life. The truth is, without Steve Jobs the computer industry may not have been where it is today. You and I may not have been having this conversation.

I agree with this, and it irritates me to see my facebook news feed plastered with people pretending to care.

It is sad indeed, as is every death. I hope his family is ok...

I'm interested as to where Apple will be going from here.

Remember when he left apple for awhile? The iSphere? Lets hope that CEO they chose a month ago will actually be a good choice...

Lets see, he created a company that employes thousands, created tech that has become common place today, and likely wouldn't have happened as fast without him, and helped create Pixar, something that has brought millions of people joy. Yea, say what you will about the man, but his influance and genius is undeniable.
