Blake
Lets see, he created a company that employes thousands, created tech that has become common place today, and likely wouldn't have happened as fast without him, and helped create Pixar, something that has brought millions of people joy. Yea, say what you will about the man, but his influance and genius is undeniable.
Doesn't mean he's worth anything more than any other person. A man is a man is a man. Es just a single person. The family may mourn, those who looked up to him as well, but it is idiotic to see people who honestly didn't give a damn about him until the moment he died cry about it. Condolences are one thing, acting like his death means more than, say, a soldier's, a murder victim's, or just that little old lady who died of old age right before Steve Jobs, or the middle age businessman who had a heart attack and lost his life is another. That said, may he rest in peace, and I wish the best for his family.

Just because all men are created equal, it doesn't mean the imprint they left on the world is. So yes, while his death doesn't more important then the death of a soldier, a victim of some crime, or an old lady, it is only at death that most people take time to look at a life and see the impact it has had on them, the people they know, and for some the world and since Steve's life affected people on all 3 levels people are going to react much more strongly to it then the loss of most others. See, your logic is "He was a genius, he means more than you". In reality, he's just another grain of sand on the beach of life. He means nothing more than my cousins who died because another rich/charity paying man was high on crack, and crashed into their vehicle. Money/Power/Influence mean nothing, as we all succumb to death. In the end, what does it all matter? If you have a faith, then there's the afterlife. If not, all life will eventually end, anyways, so what does it matter if he advanced us? Hell, he might even push us towards nuclear fallout sooner. Just because he had a ripple does not mean he means more than a starving child, who doesn't get a single tear from anyone that he hasn't met, when he dies. Most of them don't even care about him as anything more than a face on a screen, or the guy that made their computer. I mean, I don't hold anything special in my heart for Bill Gates for making Microsoft, or anything like that, so why act like you cared about him beyond that, if you didn't? You get what I mean? Thousands of people die everyday. Few people will ever leave a lasting imprint on the world. Steve Jobs was one of those people. You can hate and talk about how people die equally but the truth is......there have always been people who are better. Kings died better than peasants. We remember King Tut and his temple. Not the slaves who made it. Yes he may be just a grain of sand. But that grain of sand had moved a whole pile of it.

Ieyasu Tokugawa
If all men were created equal, why do I have a scholarship while others dont? Because we aren't equal. We have the opportunity to be equal, and some people take that opportunity to the next level and revolutionize the world. This sounds like one of those people (I don't actually know his history so...), of course he's going to get a lot of attention. He deserves it imo. Just because people freak out over deaths of people like Michael Jackson or Paris Hilton doesn't mean people freaking out over an important person have no real reason to. I don't have any feelings about his death because I don't buy his stuff. Doesn't mean other people can't have them.
