The 'Developous' Format

Recommended Posts

Do you hate it that perfectly good cards are banned/restricted due to certain cards existing in the first place?
The 'developous' format is a movement towards a new version of ruling for yugioh!

Instead of banning specific cards... Certain cards cannot exist when in combination with certain OTHER cards in the same deck.

Let me begin the rulings I would presently set in this matter:

New limits:

1x Sinister Serpent
Sinister serpent cannot be in the same deck as abyss soldier.

1x Butterfly Dagger - Buma
Butterfly dagger cannot be in the same deck as gearfried the iron knight.

You too can advise rulings on such cards....
This is a SERIOUS attempt to have them actually accept such rulings, PLEASE SUPPORT.

They would never make remakes... its sorta better they have these rulings anyhow. Why should cards be denied just because there are abusive combinations? It makes no sense in that matter.

However, I would ammend in situations where the combinations are by far too good and neumerous in number... Py a lot of combos with sinister serpent alone, yes?

Reforged Butterfly Sword - Elma
The Equipped monster gains ____ ATK. Once per Turn, when this is sent from the field to the graveyard, you may Pay ____ LP/Tirbute 1 onster/Other Cost to return this to your hand.

thats not

Sinister Serpent is infinite discard fodder. Abyss Soldier may have been one of the reasons it was banned, but it's not even close to the only reason.

Your right, it would just pop back a million times. Still, that leaves butterfly dagger.

I dont think this ruling will work either:

1x Harpies Feather Duster
If this card is in your deck, you cannot have other cards that negate and/or destroy magics and/or traps in your deck.

And there goes any use of playing it in the first place.

Reforged Butterfly Sword - Elma
This card is treated as "Butterfly Dagger - Elma" while on the field. The Equipped monster gains 500 ATK. When this is sent from the field to the graveyard, you may banish 1 card from your Graveyard to shuffle this card into your Deck, then draw 1 card.

OCG aside, this is how I would do it. Still abusable, but not dangerously game-shattering.

Well, the point is that this form of ruling wants to open up some old banned cards, due to how they are perfectly good, yet abusive due to certain combinations.

for example, how would you like to use butterfly dagger with V-Lord?
etc... Basicly, the new ruling would make certain COMBOS banned. could try to discuss that on this, along with trying to get it promoted, ya?

Harpies Feather Duster is not abusive because of any combo. It is abusive because itself alone can wipe out all of the opponent's defenses.

Right, thats a major reason why it would never come back, or have a combos ruling that would ruin the purpose of it in the first place. Worse still, it has NO cost to it, so it more than makes sense.

Edit: Thanks, last poster, didn't know such cards existed...

The discussion is not about replacing cards. Its about a new form of RULING. basicly, allowing old cards, but making there be illegal COMBOS.
But that's stupid. It's just better to make weaker versions.
HFD->Heavy->MST-> MST replacements
Raigeki->Dark Hole->Various destroy 1 mons cards
PoG->Shard->Legacy->Jar of Greed

True, but the key point still stands: Its pointless banning cards just because it makes an OPPD combination.

yes, I am aware that its much easier just to make new cards, thus replaces, but what about the moral impact of that decision?

No... It makes much more sense to have banned combos instead. Less money, but its for the better. And I know they can afford it.

MORAL IMPACT? It's a freaking card game!

You know what? Let's put Cathedral of Nobles, Exchange of the spirit, Elma, CED, and DSF @3.

Banning combos is stupid because some cards are INFINITELY abusable. See CED and DSF.

I AM NOT saying you need to unban ALL of them. Just take harpies feather as an example.

I am saying, change the rulings so that unbroken cards can finally have a return to the game. Instead of banning those cards, they just cant be used in decks with certain cards.

o_O Twilight, you piqued my curiosity. I would like to see this point system...

So, basically make this game a lot more complicated than it is?

And it's not right to say "This card is abusable, let's ban the combo, not the card. Then let's ban CED for beign abusable."

Sinister Serpent need not come off the list, at all, and nor should other banned cards. They're banned because they were bad for the game, no matter how sad we are to see Mind Master get locked in prison.

GIYAA! hmph.

I am NOT saying you unban those frickin OPPD cards out there. Even I wouldn't want a CED running amok.

I am saying...

"Let the cards that ARE NOT oppd finally have a chance to re emerge."

The new form of ruling ONLY brings back non-oppd cards, but denying CERTAIN COMBOS.

For example, Butterfly + Gearfried would be forbidden, but not one or the other.

bump for edit.
