Rainbow Neos

Recommended Posts

Can you use fusion substitute monsters to fusion summon Rainbow Neos? I say no, my other friends say yes. But it says it can't except by the above fusion material monsters. Who is right?

Probably best to use the Q+A thread for these sort of questions. Most topics are for discussing the card itself.

Rainbow Neos says you must use the listed Fusion Materials. Fusion Substitutes cannot be used, as they are not considered the materials. That's why that line exists, actually.

I would be tempted to put a video of Gary saying no here, but the only one I could find is very low quality and I could say this:

No, you cannot. Rainbow Neos is very specific because it cannot be Summoned except by Fusion Summon AND must use the materials above. That alone says that you cannot use Fusion Substitute monsters. However, it doesn't mean that you can get either of the materials' names and use those monsters for the fusion summon (Prisma, Phantom of Chaos, ect.)

ty, my friend uses Beast King of the Swamps and one-eyed goddess lady (or something like that) and we can discuss the card as well. do you think it's balanced? i wouldnt say so, just 'cause you can easily destroy their field especially if you fusion summon from your hand

edit: also have you lost to this card before?

He also tried to use TWO Fusion substitutes, despite all Fusion substitutes saying the other Materials have to be the correct ones?

Rainbow Neos is powerful, but extremely hard to Summon in a worthwhile fashion. You have to use Rainbow or Rainbow Dark (both subpar cards that'll almost never be Summoned) and the Level 7 Neos (or a Gemini Summoned Neos Alius), plus a Fusion card. Due to the OCG wording of Rainbow Neos' Summoning requirement, you cannot use Ehero Prisma on Rainbow Dragon, only Neos, so that further limits its useability.
