I put those I care about far above me ._.

I don't just say I put them above me, I do. I'll drop what I;m doing for them in a heartbeat when they ask, if I can.

Pride? Very, very little of that. And it gets crushed easily.

Honestly, things like this are what make me doubt humanity.

Yet, everything you do will be eventually forgotten.

C'est la vie.

Another important prospect is in this modern world noone could give less of a damn about anything you do.

That's probably one thing everyone will have to learn.

Our respective positions on Earth are much lower than we think.

And then about 30 times lower than that.

I don't give a damn if anyone remembers what I do.

I do it to do it, not to be remembered. The point isn't fame or fortune, it's goodwill, though that's rare in this day and age.

I'd lay my life down for at least two people in my life, and I don't care if I live or die if it's for them.

I'm a grain of sand at best, but maybe I can touch the grains around me.

That's what I like about Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, it show us humans aren't as far up the chain as we think we are. (In that the Mice ordered the creation of the Earth, and on purposely put themself in the role of test subjects. (I'll need to reread)). At the end of the day we aren't as smart as we think we are, given we make others of our kind suffer for little real value.

Question: Are you bein serious or are you just looking for a flame war? :P

OT: Humans are like any other animal, the only major thing different between us, dogs, cats, cows, birds and weasels, is our sentience. In the end, we are all just systems, systems trying to maintain ourselves. An animal will only do something if it's to it's own or a loved one's benefit.

Anyway, we are not really monsters per say, we are merely animals with the tools(intelligence) to rise above the other animals and make sure that we benefit as much as possible as a species.

I see what you're getting at, but I find your post extremely reductionist.

I find it a bit hard to describe an entire species you and I and everyone who's reading this even belong to (detail many of us seem to forget *ding ding*), since it's hard to describe things accurately from an inner perspective. Same with the construct of "the modern world".

Will maybe get into the details later, but my bottom line is just:

If someone thinks humanity is such an evil bunch of savage monsters and apocalypse, I think they should be the first to show the good example. And for me, that means getting rid of the "oh I'm one of the superior people who realize all this stuff and all you lowly humans are just puppets of society who destroy everything, can't think above yourselves and just do everything the advertisments say". Because in that case, it's the same way of "looking down on others with less intelligence (however people define that)". I'm just exagerating a general thing though, nothing personal.

But yeah, start working on a small scale, even if it's just small deeds that have little value, and maybe the world would be better off, rather than just sitting on your laurels and thinking "great, I worked this out by myself, I'm awesome" (you as a general "you").

However we will never learn. We have been sick and savage people since the dawn of time and we will continue to be forever. No human is "Good" because sometime in his lifetime he will do bad. And sometimes our heroes are the greatest villains. We can't tell the f*cking difference.

And? Isn't it the part that makes people "human" in this...well savage world?

The world will never be better off. Just because I realize this prospect does not mean I am above it. I am a victim too, of humanity's lie. We are sick and hateful and we couldn't possibly make it past the stone age in regards to enlightenment.

Its all a joke. A big f*cking joke and we're the act.

Seriously. Don't wear rose tinted lenses, but don't wear blinders either. Stop being such a cynic, and fix it. Make the world better. If you complain and do nothing, you're worse than the ones you think so foolish.
