Just Crouton Posted December 16, 2011 Report Share Posted December 16, 2011 I was watching Star Trek, and was thinking around what the world would be like if we had the mentality that words don't hurt, and people who call others names are shrugged off and ignored, and how this will probably never happen because most of the human race are deep down whiny crybabies obsessed with defending their pride and honor. Thoughts? [/quote] Pride and Honor is nonexistant and a foolish afterthought. I do accept the Sticks and Stones principle because words don't really have an affect on me. They are just words. I have taught many a person how to not give a f*ck what a person says. It does not matter what people think of you, that just makes you a slave to societies bullsh*t. Of course what you think of yourself is what matters the most, but if you just rely on your self-thoughts, it can easily turn back into pride and self-honour. In my opinion you have to decide for yourself who and what you want to listen to and what not. Insults and pulling others down are a different story though, but there are times when you're wrong and while the others may not say things in a very kind way, it can make you realize your own mistakes. [/quote] You're lucky. I'm usually cool with arguments and insults, but when it's coming from a friend, that's when it hurts. Especially when it's because of something you did. That's when it scars you. But it really angers me when the attacker is targeting other people THROUGH you. Cause they know you have personal relations with said person, so they troll you by insulting them in your direction. Furthermore, take into consideration that everyone reacts to stimuli in a different way, pain included. That's because no two people are the same in this world, don't push an ideology into a big group of people and expect everyone to react the same, this of course also means they will not develop the same way either.
