They took my $20

As I'm driving out of the plaza into the congest Sunday traffic clouding the exit, worn-out and tired of grocery shopping and other errands, I see cars in front of me opening their windows and giving money to these firemen holding a boot. Thinking it was for charity, I pull up and realize it's just fund-raising for their department. Still, I had stopped and thought one dollar couldn't hurt, so I pulled one out. Unfortunately, the wind blew out two bills from my wallet to the ground. The guy offered to give it back, but me not wanting to hold up the traffic behind me and thinking $2 wasn't bad, I said he could keep it. He looked down to the bill grinning and asked if I was sure, which I gave a hurried yes and drove away.

My sister tells me I'm an idiot as we pull away because that was a $20.
And the guy knew I didn't realize.

Discuss times jerks have screwed you over.

Had to wait 10 minutes in Savers to get 11p...wouldn't have minded, but it was the change of the Assistant Manager where I volunteer.

Sometimes when I'm at the till when I volunteer, I get customers telling me to put the change in the charity box, sometimes upto £1.50, so I always double check if they're sure.

Not me, but my friend got screwed over on Amazon

Paid $350 for an xbox 360 console

when it arrived, it was just a cardboard box with an "X" painted in black letters on it.

partly both

he shouldve told you it was $20.00

some people really need allmost every dollar they make

next you

you was in the rush and did not take the time to ask if it was 2 dollars

i hate people who do stuff like that fireman guy it was dishonest using other people pain for their gain

people like that make other people distrust people who works at charities or on the side of the road begging for money

people like that fireman guy ruins its for the ones in trouble or trying to help people in trouble

What's funny is that I was confused by that story for a while until I remembered all American currency is green. Canadian currency comes in different colors for every denomination to avoid problems like that.

Also I forgot there was an American two dollar bill for some reason.

In any case, my story comes from a different angle- I was a cashier and a customer demanded his change, even though I was a hundred percent certain I'd already given it to him. I explained this. He refused to acknowledge it. I counted out my entire till and, surprise surprise, I had the exact amount of cash left that I should have had. He cleared off when I threatened to get a manager to call him on his bull.
