Player Priority to activate Ignition Effects is an extremely stupid game mechanic and needs to go.

TRUTH!!!

Without it, Brionac/BLS/anything else with an Ignition effect can't BS its way around cards like Bottomless Trap Hole and the like.

But MSE isn't broken at all... It's a -2...

Minusing yourself leads to nothing when you're about to flip Morphing Jar and replenish your hand.

But leave it to the MSE topic. This is the Priority topic. I'm trying to follow the rules and not derail hypothetical banlist topics.

Ignition Priority is a pain because most people dont seem to verify whether their opponent is going to be using priority and then a DN Admin has to be called.

But I recently learned that Ignition Priority is ONLY for the timing of Summoning a monster. When a card effect resolves, Turn Player only has Priority to activate a Spell Speed 2+ effect, and cannot use priority for a Spell Speed 1 effect until the opponent has been passed priority to respond to the action/resolution.

Which seems to mean that Dragonfly does have Priority to equip Hornet, but Hornet does not have priority to send itself until the opponent has been passed priority to use a Spell Speed 2 effect to the resolution. If the opponent passes priority, Turn Player can once again use their priority for Spell Speed 1 effects.

Which isn't that bad, if I understand it correctly.

but it's still smelly, evilfusion. It basicially lols at any removal that doesn't say "Negate"

I never said it was a good thing. I'm just noting that based on my newer information, some Decks that thrive on spamming Ignition Effects using priority don't work the way I originally thought. It doesn't reduce the threat level of those Decks (by much) or the fact Ignition Priority is overpowered on plenty of cards.

The problem with priority is this

Cards that activate when the text is "When this card is Summoned" should be right

But when we have cards like Brionac with not that condition, people act like it is.

Fix your s*** TCG

You are aware the OCG also played like this for years, right?

The TCG just doesn't seem too keen to force players to re-learn details surrounding the procedure and mechanics they've known for their entire dueling experience, and people who dont have a solid grasp of what constituted "Ignition Priority" vs regular Priority vs Trigger Effects...well, that'd just be a mess.

It could be done, but I dont think the TCG judges are too interested in running things that way, seemingly out of the blue.

It's going to come to TCG eventually. Since they've done it in OCG, new cards coming out will be built around the assumption that they'll be played in a certain format (to some extent, of course), and that format includes no priority.

And I can't wait. Bottomless needs to s*** on Brio, DAD, JD, and all the other f***ers.

The Priority for Ignition Effects applies only when a monster is summoned as you say, but this only applies to Ignition Effect monster effects of monsters on the field. This does not apply to Ignition-like Effects of other card types, or to the Ignition Effects of monsters in hand, graveyard or elsewhere.

You could never use priority to activate Hornet's effect to destroy a monster, say at the timing of you summoning a different monster.

You can use the Ignition ruling to activate any Ignition Monster Effect you control on the field at the timing of a monster's summon, not necessarily the effect of the monster being summoned.
