With a good competitive build, they have the potential to be tier 2, in my opinion even if it might not count for much. If only Pleiades spinned to deck instead of bouncing. A fanboy can fantasize. As for the OT: I usually run a simple deck using the 4 main cards at 3 (Sheratan, Kaust, Pollux, Gredi) with 2 Leonix and Schet and 2 Genex Ally Birdman for additional support/xyz spam. Favorite combo is to Leonix into Sheratan and bounce Sheratan for Birdman into Leviathan/Zenmaines. I've seen a few builds using esca and other lesser-used Sacred monsters. Sacred Beehive, that basically, for your opponent, makes everything on your side of the field seem +1000 ATK. Not literally though, but pretty much the same thing. Ptolemys is awesome.
