CNo.101 S.H. Death Knight
tbh I felt the effect is little weak, and considering it have 5 different named light monsters in the grave to be summoned. for that effect, it's summoning should be 3 at least :/or it should at least add in that set card can't be activated in response to the effect. why do i feel the name is contradictive to each other? O.o Lightray and Diabolos...

This Account is Unplayable
Threads like this just aid my logic that the only Lightray worth running is Daedelus as an easy-to-summon beater.

Darj
I believe this is the most ironic card of Yugioh: as ~Poker Face~ pointed out, it's the LIGHT version of the card meant to represent the devil. Unless I am forgetting another monster out there. I find this card useful since currently it is the only "Lightray" who will fit in most LIGHT Decks like "The Sacreds" and "Vylons". Think of it as the generic "Lightray"; the other "Lightrays" require you to banish or run Warriors/Fields. And because your opponent can activate the Spell/Trap Card you target, obviously this card's effect is better used on face-down monsters when your opponent shifts to a defensive stance. Toffee.
Despite the fact this card is harder to Summon then Daedalus, it's potential deck-locking effect actually wins games.

But I will agree, Daedalus is more "generic" with the cost of its effect, unlike Gearfried which requires banishing Warriors from the Grave and controlling only LIGHT Warriors, and Sorcerer which requires having banished monsters and has a cost that can screw up your chances of drawing the card you need. CNo.101 S.H. Death Knight
In overall, do you think Konami is trying well with Lightray as they do with Dark or no? I sorta feel they trying to drift each monster of Lightray apart as you seen their effects compare to Dark one that they only focus DARK monster only in their requirements and cost of effects. Darj
No it won't
You think so? Then you suggest that "Daedalus" is the best "Lightray" for such Decks? I have been testing Diabolos in a "The Sacred" Deck and it, being a beatstick with a card removal effect, works better than a 2600 ATK monster whose effect I cannot activate because I don't run Field Spells; Diabolos only becomes a dead draw when I get it on my first turns, but I bet the same goes for the rest of the "Lightrays". True: Diabolos is harder to Summon because it needs 5 different LIGHTs in the Graveyard, but with the aid of LIGHT Xyz Monsters, "The Sacred" Decks can fullfill that requirement rather quickly. With LIGHT Synchros plus "Vylon Element", I guess Vylons can get 5 different LIGHTs on Graveyard quickly too. "Fableds" got LIGHT Synchros as well and they focus on discarding, so it shouldn't be difficult for them either. But I have not played with these last 2 archetypes so I might be wrong.
Lucifer means Light Bringer. Or Light bearer. Where's the contradictory logic now?
Bet you read that from the wikia, and I acknowledge your statement. [s]But if "Diabolos" was meant to depict Lucifer, shouldn't the LIGHT "Diabolos" be the original monster and the DARK version be the counterpart, not the other way around? (is it the DARK Diabolos who has the full name). Diabolos becoming a "Lightray" implies (keyword here. Before you argue, I am aware that the following is not a fact) that he went from DARK --> LIGHT, and this is where I find the irony.[/s] I just remembered that Diabolos was later demoted so it couldn't become a "Lightray" afterwards. Diabolos is not as contradictory as I thought.
