FTW (For The Wynn)
[s]Alright folks. I'm bored and I have yet to see this done, so I decided to create this.[/s] The Republican Primary is well underway. Currently, it looks like Mitt Romney will have a chance at the presidency that he did not get back in 2008. Anyway, I (and I am sure that as elections come closer others shall be as well) am curious as to your thoughts on this term's election, what you hope happens, what you think will happen, who you support, why you support them. And also, while most of you are too young to vote, or are from another country which most likely laughs at the US, you might still be interested in giving input or maybe even have a healthy debate. And of course folks, YCM rules still apply. I don't mind if you make fun of parties or candidates, but don't get too racy/offensive/etc.
FindingTheEverlight
Strangely, I know almost nothing about who's running this year. All I know is that all the people that are running seem like udder morons. I vote for Pikachu for president.

Legend Zero
That's who I'll be voting for, but not for the above. I blame Congress for most things and I think Obama has done some risky (in a good way) things in his first term, making his second term for him a good thing, imo. Great&PowerfulTrixie
[s]ur GIF needs "DEAL WITH IT" or "LIKE A BOSS"[/s] but i agree a democratic president cannot function with a primarily republican congress, besides it take more than 4 years just to do half of the things anyone wants to pass whle president, much less see them accually start working. Tentacruel
I did support Ron Paul, but since now it's pretty much Obama or Romney... I dunno. Obama's a watered-down socialist with extremely unclear convictions. The fact that his intentions are not clear worries me. Romney on the other hand is just a generic politician. It's like voting for a brick.
Great&PowerfulTrixie
basically we are dealing with "wattered down socialists" or Fascists.....hmmmmmm.....which to i choose? well i say he needs one more term to even halfway help.

Before you lecture someone regarding faulty insults, make sure you haven't acted in a similar fashion in the same thread. And don't crawl behind your "I used watered-down!" excuse; if Obama was at all a socialist, or at all affiliated with the party, it would show up in the Wikipedia article. You can say that Obama's policies are socialist, but then the person before you had all reign to say that Romney's policies are fascist. This election is going to boil down to whether we want a President who, in most economist's eyes, has stopped the economy from tanking at the expense of tripling our deficit, or whether we want a President whose capabilities in handling this recession are undocumented and vague. I just can't find common ground with Romney; it makes sense that I disagree with him socially, but even economically I'm going towards Obama (or, just centrists in general). It just irks me that we have one of the lowest effective corporate tax rates in the world, and yet the Republicans would like to slash that even further, while attempting to cut spending through welfare programs instead of through the defense budget. I'm not saying Obama is the end-all, be-all of our problems, but at least he can handle this country better than Romney. It's funny, though - there are no Democrats in this election. Obama is a centrist Republican (now we call it a "moderate", but eight years ago we would have called it "conservative"), Romney is significantly farther right than Obama, and Santorum is nearing right-wing. Lonk
Dark is back OT: I am voting for Obama. He still has alot of work to do, and everyone thinks that he isn't doing anything. On the contrary, it takes alot of time for one person to fix even one of the minor problems of the country. People are quick to blame him for doing nothing, yet they feel they are not at blame because they expect an instantaneous fix on all of the problems of the country. As a Liberal Socialist I pick Obama but unfortunately I cannot vote just yet. Romney has proven time and time again that he is only aiming for the President seat so he can win and not to fix our country. This is evident in his constant opinion flips and flops. Ron Paul is a good man with an open heart and a batsh*t crazy idea system based off of getting rid of almost everything made over the past 100 years. He has the right idea but unfortunately congress would never allow such radical opinions. Newt Gingrich is a completely and utter waste of oxygen. He is down in the dirt of the Republican party and talks like he is gods gift to conservatives when in fact his policies are completely foolish and obligatorily dumb. He has a six figure tab in Tiffany and Co. and named a Porn company "Entrepeneur of the Year".

Flame Dragon
I have a great deal of hate for Republicans. Not all of them, of course. Its just the ones you see the most are such idiots I can not respect the party. It doesn't help that I find their platform to be just stupid and none of them are good at trying to show me otherwise. However, living in New York, a very democratic state, another vote for Obama does little. As such, my vote is for Vermin Supreme.

FTW (For The Wynn)
Several high ranking Republicans made their fortunes off of oil. The economy right now increases their wealth. The rich get richer, the poor get poorer, and the caste system gets set back several centuries.
