The Consuming Darkness - A new mechanic

So, this is another one of my "flip-flop" (spell-speed 2) field spells. This one has a new mechanic in that it plays around with Life Point costs. It lets you get a search when you do pay a cost, or you can pop it to your hand to give yourself some extra life points to pay costs with. Also, it lets you search out fiends if it is still on the field (you did not use its flip-flop effect) when you pay costs. Then, as it costs half your Life Points during your end phase itself.

Each player can only activate 1 "The Consuming Darkness" per turn. Pay half your Life Points during each of your End Phases. When you pay Life Points: Add 1 Fiend-Type monster with less than 1000 DEF to your hand. During either player's turn: You can return this card to your hand and increase your Life Points by a multiple of 1000 (no more than 8000). Then, during your next Standby Phase, if you have more Life Points than when you activated this effect: Reduce your Life Points by the same amount increased by this card's effect.

It potentially can be used to stall for a while, by essentially doubling your Life Points when they attack, but your opponent can simply deal damage but not enough to get you back down to where you were when you activated TCDs effect. Then, you will end up having to lose the gained life by TCD anyway. It could even end up killing you if you are not careful. So, I don't think it could effectively be used as a stall card, although in a pinch it could prevent your death for a couple turns.

I can see Sacred Ancient Wyvern, Agent Mars, Agent Saturn, and Sky Paladin, getting some shiny new toys that could give them OTK potential.

Ironically, it's support for Fiends that helps Fairies.
It's a Tour Guide searcher...

Not sure what my stand on the card is.
