It's almost unreal that something like this has happened. I'm wondering how it'll affect the movie and movie theaters in general.
Gojira/Godzilla
[b]Movie theatres are probably going to increase security, I would say that the guy had planned this. LCÂ
yes I do, but if I was a parent, I wouldn't take a 6-year old to see something like the dark knight rises.
Not everyone thinks alike. You'd never think you yourself would do something like this, but that's not the case when it comes to other people. Common sense is something not all of us have, such as the shooter in the article. It's a tragic incident but the real pain goes to the family of those lost or affected by the shooting in any way. Movie theaters I suppose will get more security as shadow said. I also believe they may lose some business after this incident where people would be afraid to go to them. The movie would see less activity too for the same reasons.
Agro
The theatre that this occurred at will lose customers until it runs out of business. Other theatres in the area will step up security, but the general movie industry, besides paying its condolences and giving moments of silence and such, will be altogether unchanged. Darth Revan of the Sith
Tragic truly. I found the movie so good but I had no idea this had happened. I feel it would be more of a tribute to the people who died if more people went to see the movie but that is just my opinion. I don't think movie theatres in general will do much about this. One theatre no matter how tragic the event is will be able to sway all of them into one cohesive want to step up security as that would deter profits from people who don't want more security. I also heard about the six year old who died. It makes me happy to see kids seeing more mature movies but this is just horrible. Poor kid just wanted to see batman. So sad. Kitty
I've been following this story all day because this is just a tragic thing. The suspect had this whole thing planned from the beginning, which is just horrible to be honest. In Tallahassee, Florida the theaters there were going to continue showing the movie despite what happened and from what the news broadcast showed there was a lot of people there to see it. Lonk
I would say a joke here, but then I would sound like an incompetant donkey. Seriously, this was almost as bad (if not worse) as the Columbine School Massacre (Which was in the same state). Does that mean Colorado is the land of mass murder situations? ihop
Yeah, jokes came to my mind to until I reminded myself that the thing is serious and pretty scary. Mental, but it's a good place to grab public attention. Wow.

Sure, maybe that one theatre won't get their business, hell, as I've explained, no one's going to go to that theatre for a long time, if ever, but that doesn't mean that they'll never go see a movie at a theatre again. Bahamut - Envoy of the End
Waiting until tomorrow for the next police press anonuncement to see what the gunman has to say about his actions. Not that there's any possible justification of course. Most likely an isolated incident unless guy's got friends/followers/copycats, maybe worth holding off the visit to cinemas if you live in that state in case of that for a few weeks. Obv that theater will go under, but the industry as a whole won't undergo mass long term change because of one freak anamoly of an incident however tragic. Do wonder what goes on in the heads of some people...

Î’yakuya
It's been stirring up interest ever since the morning I found the breaking news. It was tragedy and nightmare for the victims (generally) speaking, and I do give my condolences. It's already ironic that the Rise of the Dark Knight was in theathers. Apparently Batman can withstand and destroy enemies, but can't break the fourth wall. And with the suspicion of possible accomplices and copycats, this really really has psychologically impacted the victim and viewers, as now any public commodity is a possible massacre spot. EliminateHRN
I saw this on the MSN homepage when I got up today and has been following it since. I'm sorry to the victims and their families. All they wanted to do is watch a movie and this is what happens. Some human beings are truly, truly evil. To be honest, I don't think the movie or cinemas will suffer to greatly due to this. If anything, cinemas might increase security or something. I know some local cinemas here in Georgia was going to add a lot more security. In my opinion, I don't know when I will step in a cinema again; I'm not going to say I won't ever step in one again, but it might take a month or two before I feel comfortable going in one again. I do wonder how the gunman got in. Yeah, but this is tragic news and I give my condolences to the victims' families.
Lonk
It was interesting after the first few hours, but now it is being overglorified, like every other massacre. *sigh* Well, let's look on the bright side of things, [s]15 less people in the world to feed[/s] this would show to be more careful in Movie Theaters next time.
What the hell is wrong with you? What did you expect; it to be headline of the news channels for a couple of hours and then be just 'okay that's done moving on'? Of course its going to go on and on, its a bloody massacre; of course it is a big story that has shocked the world. People want answers and to know more and its going to be a major story for ages, and come again when he goes on trial/is sentenced/etc. Just seen the news that police are trying to get into the main suspects home but its booby trapped to a ridiculous amount. Pleasant young man then. Also, and this might just be me, finding that he was able to purchase (legally) four guns, 6000 rounds of ammunition, and all his body armour over the last six months without any suspision or a connection being made or something, strikes me as something that I find more worrying than the security levels of every cinema in America. The police have not confirmed how he obtained the body armour. News reader has just stated that, although this is not the biggest massacre in terms of actual fatalities (12), it is the biggest in terms of numbers of fatalities and wounded combined in a single shooting incident in American history (70) or something like that. Worth more than a few hours coverage then.
Fusion X. Denver
My sympathies are extended to the victims' families. I wasn't really surprised to hear his house was booby-trapped and that he called himself the Joker. May he earn his life sentence and never sully the outside world's presence ever again. After hearing it multiple times, I shout at the TV, "Dammit reporters I don't give a rat's ass about that, I wanna know about the psychological reasonings behind his actions, not the actions itself!" Sure, people died, sympathy should be given (I guess), I just want to know why he did it.
Clair
It was interesting after the first few hours, but now it is being overglorified, like every other massacre. *sigh* Well, let's look on the bright side of things, [s]15 less people in the world to feed[/s] this would show to be more careful in Movie Theaters next time.
These are 12 deaths we are talking about. Of course it's going to be big news... what do you consider "overglorified"? Because this a real tragedy, and of course the media is going to be plastered all over it. On an unrelated note, I really like what a survivor said about the incident. I think his name was George Ramos. "It’s a hard thing to get over, but it’s definitely not impossible. And I can’t change what happened at all, but the only thing I can change is what’s happening now. And I know 12 to 14 people…I don’t know that exact number, they passed away. Their lives have been taken away. And the fact that the guy that was right next to me, that got shot, I don’t know how he is. But the fact that it missed me…I’m thankful that I have this second life and I definitely don’t want to take this for granted. But I know there’s evil in this world, I’m not naive about that. There’s evil in this world, but then there’s good. And the one thing that I do want people to know, the main message I wanted to get across is not to forget that. To remember the good times of life, the beautiful things. Don’t just remember the horrible things about life, because life can be a beautiful thing. We just have to be strong and overcome the evil of this. Like the movie of Batman, the true message of it. Standing up against corruption, against evil, against [debts], standing up. A normal citizen just standing up to what’s right. It’s ironic that that happened, but that’s basically the message that the Batman movies give out, is standing up for something that’s right. And even though the times get hard, it’s always darkest before the dawn. The second movie, that’s what it said. And it’s exactly like this." Yeah, I copy-pasta'd that. And yes, I know its basically tl;dr... but I really like the message! God bless all of the victims. This was a sick incident, for sure.
