ShenmaKid
Hi everyone, ShenmaKid here. I made the "Endless Nightmares" set back in January, then took a really long break from card making. But now I'm back with a whole new set! Hope you like it! Set Name: Courageous Frontier Theme: This set revolves around the card "Courageous Novice." Think of him as your starting character in a RPG game. He can level-up into different classes, turning him into different "Courageous" monsters. The other "Courageous" monsters have two common traits: First, you can special summon them by tributing a level 4-8 "Courageous Novice." Second, you need to say the word "Courage!" to unlock their effects. However, you can only say "Courage!" with a card effect! So far, there are only 3 cards that let you say the word "Courage!" The first being "Courageous Novice" himself. PS: To anyone who finds this concept a little odd, it is the same as "Declare a card name" or "Declare a level". The card effect requires you to physically speak.
When this card is Summoned, you can say the word "Courage!" along with a number from 1 to 12. The Level of this card becomes the said number. This card cannot be destroyed by battle with a monster whose Level (Or Rank) is less than the Level of this card. This card cannot be used as a Synchro/XYZ Material Monster. This card cannot be removed from play. Example: If you summon him and say "Courage! 8," then he will become level 8, and cannot be killed by monsters level 8/rank 8 or lower. You can Special Summon this card by tributing 1 face-up Level 4 "Courageous Novice" you control. When you say the word "Courage!", this card gains the following effect: Once per turn, you can Special Summon 1 "Courageous" monster from your Graveyard, except "Courageous Cleric". You can Special Summon this card (From your hand) by tributing 1 face-up Level 5 "Courageous Novice" you control. When you say the word "Courage!", this card gains the following effect: When this card battles an opponent's monster, destroy the monster immediately with this card's effect (without damage calculation). You can Special Summon this card (From your hand) by tributing 1 face-up Level 6 "Courageous Novice" you control. When you say the word "Courage!", this card gains the following effect: When this card destroys an opponent's monster by battle, you can select and destroy up to 2 cards your opponent controls. Cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. Must first be Special Summoned (from your hand) by tributing 1 face-up Level 7 "Courageous Novice" you control. This card is unaffected by your opponent's Spell Cards. When you say the word "Courage!", this card gains the following effect: Once per turn, you can Special Summon 1 "Courageous" monster from your hand. Level 7 and higher Courageous monsters cannot be normal summoned. But they all have other effects in addition to their "Courage effects." Cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. Must first be Special Summoned (from your hand) by tributing 1 face-up Level 8 "Courageous Novice" you control. Once per turn, you can say the word "Courage!". When you say the word "Courage!", this card gains the following effect: This card can attack all face-up monsters your opponent controls once each. The main buddy of the protagonist, following the tradition of 2500/2000 ATK/DEF. He lets you say "Courage!" once every turn! Boss card: Cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. Must be Special Summoned (from your hand) by Tributing 1 face-up "Courageous Crusader" you control, and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. This card gains 300 ATK for each face-up "Courageous" monster you control. When you say the word "Courage!", this card gains the following effect: Negate the effects of all face-up monsters your opponent controls. This card's maximum number of attacks is equal to the number of face-up "Courageous" monsters you control. A little bit harder to summon. But I think his effect pays off.

Say the word "Courage!". Face-up "Courageous" monsters you control gain 500 ATK and DEF until the End Phase. Your opponent cannot activate cards or effects in response to this card's activation. Activate only when a face-up "Courageous" monster you control would be destroyed. Negate the attack or card effect that would destroy it. Then, you can Special Summon 1 "Courageous Novice" from your hand or Deck. Add 1 "Courageous" card from your Deck to your hand. Then, if you control no face-up "Courageous" monsters, you can Special Summon 1 "Courageous Novice" from your hand or Graveyard. You cannot Special Summon other monsters, except "Courageous" monsters, the turn you activate this card.
Pictures from "Grand Fantasia." nimigoha
At first, when I read the level effect of novice, I thought it was the worst idea ever. "Say 12 and he's invincible". Then I realized the others required him to be a certain level. It's certainly an interesting concept, and done pretty well. The only problem I can think of is having only 3 monsters that are Tribute-able. Also Cleric is weird; tribute for the normal summon of a level 4? I know what you're trying to do (finish at 8 ) but maybe boost everyone a level? Just a thought. Then it would go 5-10. Unless you're looking to get a good monster (Cleric) while still being vulnerable to death by level 4 monsters. Good balance. Also. What about battles with Xyz monsters? If I attacked Novice with Utopia, what would happen? You should put something in about this... Another thing. The card art is FANTASTIC, especially for this concept. Let it be known that if I used these cards, I would not say courage. 8/

宇佐見 蓮子@C94
You can easily win any match against this archetype simply by duct-taping your opponent's mouth shut. -w- Concept is... Odd to say the least. In fact it's so odd, I don't think this belongs in Realistic Cards. Correct me if I'm wrong, but shouldn't stuff like this belong in Any Other cards. But oh well, I'm shite at reviews anyways. Also, the pictures look like they're from an MMORPG or something?
ShenmaKid
Alright I made some changes. - Level 4-6 (Cleric, Assassin, Gunslinger) can be normal summoned (Without tributing Novice). - Level 7-10 (Sorcoress, Crusader, Royal Knight) cannot be normal summoned. You must tribute Novice to special summon them. - Changed "Gift of Courage." - Pictures from "Grand Fantasia." Also, thanks to nimigoha for pointing out the Level/Rank thing with Novice. I also fixed that.

Yes, you need a few cards in hand to pull this off, but still. To balance Novice: "This card cannot be tributed the same turn it is normal summoned". That way you can't instantly pull off any Courageous monster; like the LV monsters, it takes an effect/turn. Make Sorceress and Crusader semi-nomi "must first be summoned by tributing novice" and Royal Knight nomi "Can only be summoned by... and cannot be summoned by other ways" (look up real cards for exact wording). Once you do that, I think it will be a very balanced set.

Same goes for Knight. So if you have Novice, Sorceress, Attack, Crusader, and Knight all in your first hand, kudos to you! Better yet, the first card you draw is another Attack, then you can activate Knight's effect as well! I updated the wording for Sorceress, Crusader, and Knight. I noticed newer cards are using "Must first be" instead of "Can only be."

Now that I see you need another card that says "Say Courage" in it to use the effect. So much better now... Will you add more cards that let you say Courage? Like a Field spell maybe? (Discard one card to say "Courage" or similar). It's so much better now... Also, does saying Courage activate every face up Courage effect? (Like you have Sorceress and Knight on field, and you use Attack and say Courage. Does it unlock the effects of both?)
