Le Welche Alt
To begin, I am no entirely positive on the wording. It appears to me that you are attempting to create a card that can function both as the MST we know and love and also function the way some New players believe it to function. In this case I should say the card would be all together too strong.

werewolfjedi
that's a huge duh. and the explanation gets even more muddled up when you target continuous spells and traps.
Le Welche Alt
In fact I believe this thread to be a much subtler attack upon the new players who seem to be of the opinion that a card with such an effect would be at 3.

arkel
So a costless Solemn Judgment that can't destroy monsters or negate Counter Traps. That's not awful card design at all.
Le Welche Alt
From the look of this card it is very different from Solemn Judgment. It is for one a quick play, for two it can't affect monsters for three counter traps are immune and for four it can destroy facedowns or continuous card. Le Welche Alt
I am simply saying that it is not the same as Solemn Judgment and that a comparison would be foolish.
Toffee.
Basically, to sum it up, Typhoon uses new-player logic. ..... I'll pass, thank you.
In what way? The nature of Continuous Spells/Traps/Monster Effects and Field Spells is that their effects cannot apply if they are not face-up on the field during resolution. I'm not sure why a lot of players feels that if the same results can be reached that methods are the same. They somehow feel that because MST can stop the effect of Continuous Spells/Trap cards/Field Spells, so that must mean it negates their effects, when it doesn't mean that at all. I think some of the issue lies where some people don't know the rule or explanation, and continue anyway thinking that idea is correct, then passing it onto their friends that they play with. I used to get those "Well, that's how we always play it around here and no one questions it" excuses to rulings.
newhat
I think that mechanic is present for Continuous Spells and Traps to avoid a mess with stuff like Call of the Haunted. Do I Summon the monster and immediately destroy it, or does it work like Eclipse Wyvern and Darkflare?
Merci
Ridiculously broken, much worse than Solemn Judgment. That's pretty much all I can say on this hypothetical insane buff, that uses newbie logic.
remember, I help teach little kids learn this game and am a secondary judge at my hobby shop. I've been called to tables for both parts of these arguments. I usually keep an eye on their games, and they like that most of the time, this is the one situation that they don't, because it confuses them, and then I explain that part about continuous spells and traps, and then they suddenly get it in their head that it negates, AGAIN *sigh*
