Thar
I still remember the Elite Raters; back when J-Max and DJ Osiris were high and badass. I also remember beating Huntar! 2 rounds out of 3 back when he WASN'T a mod. Good times.
Dwarven King
YCM has given me friends I will never forget. Some I have met in person, some I wanna meet in person. I love you guys. :
bury the year
Fuck y'all, I come up on five years in February. And it's kinda funny seeing how I've migrated throughout the sections. Started as everyone else did in Realistic Cards and Any Other Cards, made a member card shop there which was pretty popular while it lasted, went into Written Cards after a while, started RPing on a whim, started pushing for more literacy in the section, and bam. Bob's your uncle, I'm a mod. |: As for development for me as a person...? I am going to go against the grain and say that I haven't changed too much, nor had any life-changing epiphanies about myself. Of course I've made friends and moved on from them, and I no longer have as much motivation to continue posting on this site as I once did. I've always been very singleminded and headstrong on what I want out of a site, though, and I think YCM came through for me in that regard. So there. :
Thar
I enter 5 years in November, but I've only been active for about 2. First long leave was a ragequit for not being included in a fic about Organization XIII. Second one was just life's calling.
galesonic
Its been so long sine I first started here as a noob who couldn't even make a decent deck lol One major thing this forum helped me with is my RP and story writing skills. It also helped me learn how to build a deck (though I can't make a stable one still to this day)
Lunar Origins
You guys know I could probably write a whole s*** ton about me loving YCM, but I won't because it's almost time for school. YCM changed my life. If I hadn't met Aggro, I might never have came out and told people about the real me. I wouldn't be a happy person. I might still be heavily depressed - or worse, dead. But YCM came along and gave me some wonderful people; people I'm happy to proclaim my all-too-real feelings for.
Yasu
Umm, about four years..? I'm an uncharismatic loner even on the internet so I didn't really form any meaningful friendships here.

·Toot
I'm just about the same as Starrk. When I wasn't working or wasn't in school and wanted to talk to cool people (The people I hang out with are not cool j/s) I'd come here to YCM. I've been here since '07. Its been really fun. Up until the end of last year.
JadenxAtemYAOI
I've been here since 2009. My existence here has stopped few things. For example, higher members don't tell newer members to follow higher members advice because I'm still an average player and not experts like them. I give bad advice on accident. The blocking system's flaw was exploited by Axamil because he decided to verbally abuse me in messages often to the point he harassed me with the donate option to send messages. I no longer use character based decks and I'm able to actively talk to my son's godfather.
.Spock
This thread was ridiculously inspiring, Dark, it even convinced me to post on the forum more than I have been out of simple hope that I can gain a few intellectual hobbies of my own. This forum hasn’t affected me in anyway, and that’s my fault. The reason being is the majority of the posts I have made over my time on YCM were pure rubbish. Thanks. Limited Edition KING
I'm hitting up my fourth year on this website in a couple of months. In these four years the only thing I can think of that YCM has affected me is my desire to improve my skills to be the best I can be. I remember when I started I would listen to everyone's advice on my cards and I would use that advice to improve my next card and hope that the ratings I received for the card would improve each time. This would carry on to the fan-fics and graphics that I created as well. Now outside of YCM I'm continuously working on my basketball skills after school to hopefully make me a better player than what I have been and I feel that this desire to improve my skills started to develop here when I was younger. YCM has also introduced me to some pretty cool people who I wouldn't mind meeting in person one day.
Î’yakuya
I may as well have a background similar to Dark's. When I joined, I was pretty much new to the vast world of the mature side of the Internet. I found YCm due to the fact I love Yugioh and crap, but then I started to get a hand of trolls and people who criticize me, and I have met some friends as well. Aside from Facebook, it allowed me to get in touch with friends outside my other world. I was able to show off and learn arts, post my creativity, and other junk. Without YCM, I wouldn't have gone to other places on the Internet, or in IRL. So I have a V for Vendetta-esque memoriam as well.
-Griffin
Four years + ~1.5 months for me. It made me think more about game design. Trying to organize custom formats on here showed me how little effort people are willing to put into something/how little dedication people can have to things. Trying to get anyone to actually duel in that was a nightmare because, god forbid, there were around three steps to connect over YVD. The horror. I haven't gained much respect for many people on this site in that time =| Oh, it also taught me Written Cards will never be active and YCMaker don't care about anything, although those aren't really relevant outside of YCM. Hello my name is Enguin
YCM has had little to no effect on me and I have made little to no effect here. Yup. I didn't expect it to give anything to my life and don't from any forum....it's based around a card game, I'm not looking for deep conversations or to make great friends, I'm here because one evening I got a spur of the moment interest in YuGiOh again and made an account. Muluck
Well after reading all the other threads and member responses, the only thing I can honestly say YCM did for me, was that it made me want to push myself to make a card maker. Which I did, but at the time I had no means of supporting a website that could house it, so I eventually gave up on it. It's funny though, because Im looking at it now, and while it does the exact same thing YCM's does, I know all the hours I spent researching how to build it and for that reason alone I will never get rid of it. But for my nostalgia trip, there's nobody on here who would remember or care. Unless you changed your name, then.. Oh well.
Shradow
It'll be my 4th year this coming October, and YCM has been plenty fun. Back when I actually made cards, that was a fun and creative outlet. This site also helped my YGO game with all the TCG discussion I was in, and this was babby's first forum for me (I started out back when I was 13) so that was an experience in itself. T. Sankara
Four years and eight days, to be precise. I seem to have, again, missed my anniversary of joining this website. In any case, these four years have been quite the thrill - I was cornered into making a Skype (which turned out to be extremely useful), I gained a deep disrespect for people who play Yugioh (only kidding, of course), and I made a few friends from not only around the country, but from around the world (yet I'm sadly lacking Russian friends). Parenthetical phrases aside, this forum has truly made an impact on my life. Whether or not that impact has been beneficial is still unknown, and it may never be known, but the knowledge I've gained from just reading threads, let alone posting in them, has been immense. As sad as it may sound I honed my debating skills here, and to my surprise met a whole host of, for lack of a better word, smart people. I cemented my knowledge of competitive Pokemon battling, an obscure hobby which has led me to pursue chess (how one ties competitive battling to chess evades me, though). I met member upon member who taught me about video game music (most notably Clair - she's probably the only "shout-out" I'll make in this thread), a genre which has since dominated my music library. I could go on - I learned the art of trolling (even though I was never particularly good at it), I remember nights where friends and I would just have massive Skype calls, I... there is just too much. Too much nostalgia, too much to remember, and too much to post. As I enter my senior year of high school (yes, I'm not yet in college - to those who believed I was, apologies for the blatant lie), I can't expect to forget these memories. It's embarrassing, almost frowned upon to say I was ever part of a Yugioh forum. The first few thousand posts I made on this forum were incriminating and stupid, and unfortunately didn't define me as a person. But despite how much I hide this forum under the covers, despite how much I try to forget about this place, it always creeps up. When I'm in the middle of a heated debate, or when I'm using iTunes to make a playlist, or even when I log onto Skype... YCM is there. I will always remember. (I would make a cheesy "Remember, Remember the Third of September" joke, but so few people would get it.) And though I've made it sound like I'm leaving, I'm not. I never left - it was just a period of inactivity. I still lurk the forums in my free time, and I'm ready to pounce if I see an interesting thread (Trayvon Martin comes to mind... and that stupid Math thread). Though most of my friends have since left this forum, I still want to thank everyone for making the past four years (and eight days) an enjoyable experience. And I hope that somehow I've affected your life in an equally profound way. --- AND NOW FOR THE "LEGITIMATE TOPIC" PART BECAUSE GENERAL RULES WILL NOT ALLOW ME TO POST THIS UNLESS I POSE A TOPIC OF CONVERSATION To the veteran members: how has YCM affected your life? What have you gained from spending time here and where do you expect it to get you in the future? To the newer members: what do you expect YCM to give you? How would you like it to impact your life and what outcome would justify your being here?
DARK I MISSED YOU. (the following scene has been censored) A lot. But to answer question 1: The affect YCM has had on me has been minimal, but it has affected me nonetheless. I've gained friends, lost friends, gained enemies and lost no enemies. I don't expect much more from YCM, but I do hope to come back occasionally to remissness.

Merci
YCM has greatly affected my life in the past four years since I joined on the 24th of August in, 2008, and my decisions as a whole are a part of it as well. It's helped me with so many things, most notably the ability to actually socialize with other people. I mean, I really feel like I've changed a lot from being that random little noob called Rucario who made crappy cards with gigantic ATK and RP'd in script format :') It's a little hard for me to believe sometimes, but I believe I can correctly identity myself as a veteran member having joined in 2008. If I must admit, you guys are the one that actually gave me a proper future. Well, for one, I wouldn't be alive having committed suicide at the ripe old age of ten, and for two I learned my writing skills here. When I'm adult, I'd like to be a writer. Granted, it probably won't assure me a consistent living, but still. I know who I am now, due to you guys. Okay, so most of the people here I used to know and make friends here are gone. The one who stayed the longest was TheFinalFan, and he's pretty much my longest friend here. Other people I used to know probably just had name changes so I lost track of them ._. still. I have a lot to thank you guys for. Well, I'm not really as active here anymore. I used to post consistently in many of the sections, especially the Clubs one, but I haven't joined a club in a really long time now and I've been too lazy to upload any of my cards made on MSE. Really, the only places I still post in nowadays are the Roleplaying section, the Naruto thread, and an occasional visit to the TCG and General sections. But still, you guys changed me a lot. It's like a home, and also like a um...second father to me. Yeah. That's precisely what this site is, a second father to me. I've met loads of cool and interesting people here, people I never would've met in real life, and you guys are so...intriguing, with your own stories and lives. You guys are also quite nice too, in my opinion at least. Helpful. Not jerks, like quite a few other forums I've attempted to go to e_e Time really does fly, huh? I used to hold a grudge on two mods, but those were sort of irrational. Anyway, where was I again? Oh yeah. The YCM community is like a second father to me. It's really amazing when I think back at how much I'd changed. Thank you all. Again. For the quinteenth time.
