This website / YCM is going down / hi I'm Cinnabon

Since these kinds of threads are apparently in now, I'd like to add my sauce to the yard.
So yeah, sit back for story time.

My name is Cinnamon Star, also forever known as Opal because Opalmoon and occasionally Raven, although that's a time I'd rather not talk about in excess. About 4 1/2 years ago, I came across this site because I was interested into fanfics and Yugioh, but it was more of a coincidence. Surprised to see a forum that was so active, something I've never been to before, I was soon caught up by cardmaking and just socializing. Granted, my mod promotion which followed that year and made me do some mistakes here and there (plus the fact that General was twice as active and most of the active members were in the middle of their hormonal rebel crisis or whatever) was good and I enjoyed it. That is, I enjoyed everything besides the daily "unban random troll nao", "hear me rage" and "religion sucks" threads that made up half of my moderating work, but there were some good days too.

I'd like to use this thread to greet everyone I know, whether we've just known each other for a short while or walked this path since yesteryear (though I'll focus on the latter).

- MarbleZone was one person I'd qualify as a friend here, although he has disappeared from the Internet and focussed on real life. MarbleZone is a great guy, hands down.
- Death Metal, Krow, Willieh, Eury, Dismal Euphony, also Enrise and Jester Head... It was cool.
- Judgment Dragon and Saturnpaladin were 2 other people I had talked to and who made the site better IMO. One left, the other is on Facebook.
- Browarod was one of the first who talked to me when I joined, but we grew out of touch after a while. Same with San-Meti, but meh.
- RAEG is RAEG and deserves a shoutout too, of course. Hell, besides Death Metal (to some extent), we never really lost contact. :D

As for the newer acquaintances, don't think that there's anyone I feel close to these days, but I do believe there are a lot of fine people on this site. Dunno, we'll see. It's true however that the site demographic has changed, for better or for worse.

Now to the discussion topic at hand:
What are your "achievements"/"failures" on this site?
Where do you think did you lend a hand and help the site change for the better?
Did you meet people and stay in touch with them?

(Actually, this is less about the sort of impact the site had on you, but more about what you did on it.)

inb4 no cool story bro or tl;dr kpop gifs or a variation thereof because that's my job =O

Obligated "this thread again?" statement is required.

In my early years, I was contraversial due to my big ego. I didn't have many friends, so I dealt with all the crap myself. I honestly think I helped RC and CC during my time here mainly since that is where I had the most success at. Recently, I got a Skype account and I'm finally chatting with people outside of YCM, learning a lot in the process. You could say my fortunes have chsnged, but I just worked through it all.

Up until about 1 and a half months ago I made my name in YCM for being an egotistical, anti-religious, hypocritical, annoying, flip-flopping, jerk who had nothing better to do than spout my annoying Anti-Religious sentiment without even caring what other people thought. I refused to listen to other peoples opinions even though I "Claimed" I was open minded. I ruined the debate section and drove into the ground because of my idiocy and selfishness. I made an enemy out of Daemon which is something I never should have done.

I have many things to regret. However the one thing I don't regret was joining in the first place.

My failures include being too nice to close threads with this doomsday mentality. Q.Q

Anyway, I think what's happening is the "regulars" have gotten up in years (high school/college), so this school year will really be interesting for the forums. I know I have a ton of things I'd like to do here, but time is so small and when I get a free moment I really just fell blah.

Achievements:
Trio of DEF-Decent story that a bunch of people enjoyed for the most part
YMB-SMESH STARTED IT though I helped out hosting a lot of matches and co-hosting the 3rd event
Akatsuki of YCM-AA'UNE STARTED IT though I definitely helped keep it going with other people throughout the years
Biggest Naruto Set Ever-I made like 250+ Naruto cards back in the day, I'm pretty sure no one else wasted their time in that respect (wait is this an achievement)
Best Male Member-I got awarded this title sometime last year, I thought that was kinda cool

Failures:
YCM Awards-I didn't run my council well and I also failed in getting everyone custom awards made for them
Past Year in CW-My DEF One-Shot thread came off as "meh" and ended up getting locked, which was just as well since I needed to focus in school more during my senior year. And I started up another fanfic at the wrong time and realized I couldn't commit to it with all that's going on in my life right now.
"They took my $20" thread-I made a thread where I b*tched about being swindled money, but soon realized I was the one at fault. I think I lost a bunch of credibility in the eyes of the community for that.

I don't know if the YMB and YCMA's made the site better, but there's no question it brought the community together. So I guess it's cool I helped out with that, despite me currently detesting the idea of the YMB.

I met lots of people and I'm staying in touch with a few of them, yes. They're why I've come to love this place and why I will never regret all my time spent on YCM.

Personal achievement? YCM helped me realise a dream. I love art, and I probably would have never realised that were it not for Showcase. YCM achievement? Once again, art-related. I have a sticky, courtesy of Yin, on tags and art and colour. Nothing else major, but I like to think I've been vaguely good at not ruining YCM.

If there's ever anything I need to remember about this site, it's about the former thing there. By the way, the reason why everyone's dead was some random chain reaction thing: a few vets leave for some reason or another, then everyone else starts leaving for the fact vets left, and then all hell breaks loose and there's a mass move to CGC while others start dying out.

I've achieved making really amazing friends on here. And sure, I don't talk to most of them anymore, but I still enjoyed the time I got to spend talking to them. I've successfully been a part of numerous side forums that was built from the community I was a part of that all started from us meeting here and got to mod and improve my story writing and have a great deal of fun with said community. My failures would be maintaining the heights I reached back then. Now no one really knows me here anymore.

I don't think I ever really changed the site. But baaaaack when, I was one of the only few girls on here. There really weren't many active ones. So that was fun. Kind of added a much needed twist and diversity in this community filled with males.

I met lots and lots of people. I haven't stayed in touch with any of the ones that really impacted my life, but I don't mind. Nice knowing we're all making something of ourselves offline. I do talk to a few members here and there though, so that's good.

My Achievments here?

Getting positive feedback on my fic, which was a nice boost, and making a couple of friends, not many. But that may come with time.

My failures?

To many to attempt to list.

Umm, way I've helped? I can't think of any, accept maybe my very odd feeling of logic, and lack of a life leading me to post lots during certain periods.

As for friends?

Haven;t stayed in touch with anyone from here outside of here, namely becuase there are only 2 people. However, one day if I make more friends here I'd love to. Almost everyone here seems nice, and I'm sure they are.

I'm never been a very popular member here even though I've been since Christmas Day 2007. I don't really think I have many achievements and I can't think of any failures I have, even though I know I have some. I also don't really think I changed the site or helped it in any way.

However, I have met a lot of awesome members on here; I only really keep in touch with one of them (Brushfire) and even then we have times where we don't really have many conversations with each other. I need to find a way to keep in touch with him, but I can figure that out later. Yeah, but I have met a lot of awesome members here and this community has helped me get through a lot of troubles in my life, especially recently. If it wasn't for some of the members here, I don't really know what would have happened with all of the troubles. I wish I knew a lot of the members here better, but I don't have any regrets with meeting some of the members here.

Yeah, that's really it. I don't have any achievements/failures and I haven't helped/changed the site, but I have met a lot of really awesome members here.

I've been here for 4 years, but I really never was a total popular member due to the fact I was more of a lurker rather than an avid poster. I met a lot of friends here, but Mako and Aggro are really the only two that are still active.
My biggest achievement here without a doubt was the Pokemon sprite shop I ran back in 2010. It only ran for about 3-4 weeks, as I had to close it for academic purposes. It still got almost 400 posts in that small time span, which is really good for a shop. I also met a good amount of said friends in there.

YMB and I wrote the contest rules yay, who gives a f***.

I have friends, some are gone but I'm fine with the friends I have on here that are still around so it's all good.

If I recall you give Card Contests a much needed revitalization back in the day.

I love you too.
I actually keep in contact with the other two.

I'm afraid I can't answer the first two questions. I'm really not aware of my achievements or failures, nor do I believe I helped the site in any manner.

It has been a while hasn't it? As for friends, I literally just got of the phone with Shadow Zero, and a great number of others I like to talk to and just in general be around. I've tried to help the site and failed on most every occasion. My personal achievements and failures are RPs. Because of them, I honestly believe that I became a better writer for it and they further developed my interests in anime/manga. I also remember all the club wars that were to be had...Man those were fun...

"achievements"

I made...friends.

...

*Blank slate*

"failures"

I haven't done much that could be considered a failure, me thinks.

At least, I can't remember anything.

Where do you think did you lend a hand

I occasionally talked to people about problems in their life, providing support and the like.

and help the site change for the better?

I- there is nothing I can think of.

Did you meet people and stay in touch with them?

I fared pretty well. Got a good list on Skype and I talk to Aggro and Larry often. Plus, with the help of some others, I can talk to pretty much anyone who has left due to how connected my friends are to everyone else.

Yeah, I haven't done much here. I tried to contribute to the card making section, didn't get far. I attempted RPs, but they either died or I completely forgot about them. I did have a pretty good Review thing going for me, but life, forgetfulness, lack of funds to buy games, and plenty of other stuff got in the way.

Achievements?

I really don't think I've had any in relation to this site, beyond the reaffirmation of my lurker status on every forum I frequent.

Failures...

Every created card thread I've made. Getting back into card making just as Pop Culture Cards was left unmoderated (it is, don't try to kid yourself) was probably a mistake. I tried to make the Boktai video game series more well known, though since almost no one seemed to care about the 100 or so cards I made I feel that I failed there too. I should have tried to deliberately make the cards terrible, if only to get comments, rather than trying to balance them and use correct OCG. No one comments on balanced cards that have correct OCG.

Never really made friends with anyone on the site, and haven't really been involved in anything that's happened.

Achievements
Having my character in Trio of DEF
Running a successful YCM Awards
That one club that reached 1000 posts (can't remember its name)
Finally reaching 6 stars on YCM

Failures
All of my other clubs (aside the one I named above)

I can't really think of any other failures at the moment but yeah I'm pretty happy with the accomplishments I've made, even though they appear to be small but they meant a lot to me. :)

Where do you think did you lend a hand and help the site change for the better?

Hosting one of the YCM Awards would probably be about it.

Did you meet people and stay in touch with them?

Yes I've met some pretty awesome people here and still keep in touch with them on MSN.

I joined at least 2 years ago. When I did post it was usually an IRL deck that was just hideously awful. People tried helping and I basically refused because I thought my deck was awesome. Over time I learned how to suck it up and take personal attachments out of the equation and just let people deconstruct it.

As far as great achievements? I was the one who dueled "YCMaker" during the whole "he's coming back" fiasco. I lost horribly but it was still fun. That was back when I was Ibashi.

I think before that I got temporarily muted for chewing out Demon's Souls quite, well, let's just say "aggressively." Not one of my best moments. There's obviously been some other stuff too.

I haven't really made any friends on here, at least none that I actively converse with. I'm more of a lurker in that regard and I'll probably stay that way for quite some time yet. Provided this place doesn't collapse into the dirt.

I miss when my posts in WC got replies...those were the days...those were the days indeed.
