Limited Decisions [Tournament||CANCELED; LOCK]

Recommended Posts

TOURNAMENT CANCELED
Reason: Not enough interest/participants.

[s]1.) Your Extra Deck can only have up to 3 cards. No more.
2.) You can only have up to 5 unlimited cards in your deck.
3.) You are allowed 1 forbidden card in either your Extra Deck or Main Deck.
4.) You are allowed to make a Side Deck containing unlimited cards. If you win a duel, you are allowed to side in 2 cards (must let me know which cards; I will assume anyone who doesn’t let me know that they are siding cards will not be siding cards at all)
- All duels will be single duels (NOT matches) and siding will take place in-between Rounds.

- After your deck is built, you must PM it to me for approval.

- Duels must be overseen by me to be counted. I'm (GMT -400) and also bad with time zones, but I'm on quite frequently so it shouldn't be a huge problem.

- Matchups will be chosen at random.

- Please provide me with your YCM name and your DN name.

- You are allowed to make changes to your deck prior to the tournament but you are not allowed to test your Deck or any Deck that adheres to the rules prior to the tournament.

- For building your Deck you can refer here: http://www.yugioh-card.com/en/limited/

- We need a minimum of 8 participants to start, but I will allow more. I will stop accepting new participants 12:00 GMT -400 on Sep. 28 (this Friday).
I have some questions:

The second rule is hard to understand for me.
Do you mean you are only allowed to have 5 slots of unlimited cards out of your 40? or that you are allowed 5 different cards (regardless of copies, attaching to the 3-card limit of course).
Also, why a limit to the unlimited? Wouldn't it make more sense to pick a limit to the "limited" instead? Having 35 card Decks full of limited/semi-limited cards forces a very small cardpool to choose from.
Which I'd guess would explain the name of the tournament, but want to make sure.

Even if you say "unlimited side deck", DN only allows for max 15. How are you going to approach this? =0
Siding 2 cards per Duel only makes me realize what the name of the tournament is based on....though, wouldn't making only the winner able to side, turn it into a "win more" situation at times? Not like only 2 sided cards are much difference, but they still are one.

a.) 5/40 cards in the deck can be unlimited cards.

b.) It would make sense to limit the "limited" but that has already been done before and I wanted to try out something relatively new.

c.) I believe you misread this: "You are allowed to make a Side Deck containing unlimited cards" You can have unlimited cards (as in cards that are not limited/semi-limited) in your Side Deck.

d.) Now, I think I messed up on this bit because when I said single-elimination I was thinking one duel knockouts (so not best 2 out of 3). My bad on that; I'll edit the main post. Anyway, the winner of a duel would get to side in 2 cards for the next Round.

I don't not understand some of your rules
1.) Your Extra Deck can only have up to 3 cards. No more.
got that. that's easy.

2.) You can only have up to 5 unlimited cards in your deck.
define card, and define unlimited. are we still working by all the other rules of the game?

3.) You are allowed 1 forbidden card in either your Extra Deck or Main Deck.
got that, I hope you enjoy losing to ftks.
4.) You are allowed to make a Side Deck containing unlimited cards. If you win a duel, you are allowed to side in 2 cards (must let me know which cards; I will assume anyone who doesn’t let me know that they are siding cards will not be siding cards at all)
I think this can be better phrased as: you may change any two cards after each duel.

2.) Limited, Semi-Limited, and Unlimited. You can have any 5 cards that are unlimited in your Main Deck. The other 35 will have to be either Limited or Semi-Limited.

4.) I can't help but feel you misunderstood that rule. Where it says "unlimited cards" it is talking about (again) Limited, Semi-Limited and Unlimited. So your Side Deck can contain cards that are not just Limited or Semi-Limited. It doesn't give you every card in the game as your Side Deck, it doesn't mean you can have infinite cards in your Side Deck, it means you can have Unlimited Cards in your Side Deck.

K, thanks, I got it now.
The Side Deck can only contain cards that are "unlimited" in the Advanced Format.
The rounds are decided with single Duels, not Matches.
Each time you win a round, you are allowed to exchange 2 cards in your Main Deck, with 2 cards in your Side Deck, for next round.

Is that alright? I mean, the purpose of the Side Deck is to prepare againt a specific threat within the Match. Sinse you won't really know what your next opponent is going to be running, will that many people even want to Side? =0
I guess if the participants put attention to all the Duels and have good enough memory, they'll know what their opponent's have upon Round 2, but that's.. uhh...

Yes, that is correct. As for siding in cards, my logic for this wasn't to prepare for a threat. If people are allowed to side in 2 cards that can be "unlimited" it potentially enhances their deck's capabilities while still keeping in line with the theme of the tournament. I don't know; it's some weird logic that I put behind that, but that's that.

I don't suppose you'd like to sign up? As you can see, nobody has yet. I'll extend the accepting time if need be, but if it flops all entry fees will be refunded.
