Not-so-Radiant Arin
Hello, everyone, and welcome to this year's YCM Awards. I'm Dante Sparda, or Devil's Advocate, or ~Xiahou Dun~, if you ever bothered reading through my previous aliases. It is a huge honor to be able to host these awards, but since the public has gone restless with the lack of apparent presence, things may be a bit cramped, and I apologize. This is the GFX Recruitment Topic for the General YCMA Council, who will oversee creating the awards and making them really stand out. Just like last year's awards, fill out the form below if you wish to take a spot on the Council Team. I'm looking for people who can be flexible and organized at the same time, while also providing a helping hand to guide the Awards to the best that they can be.
Why do you want to help with the YCM Awards? How is your GFX'ing skill? How are your organizational skills? How often are you able to get on YCM? Do you have previous Council experience? Any other things I may need to know about that may help your chances?
Also, I am looking for at least one moderator to oversee the entire GFX Council. This is different from last year's Recruitment, and if you have any suggestions as to who the mod should be, you can also place it here.
.Rai
This is completely irrelevant in General because only people in Showcase need to read this. And, to be honest, this is done so insanely wrong. I'd much prefer just simply having one or two designers + a group of people to split the workload between (which is simple enough because it's anyone who has basic knowledge of Photoshop, fonts and regular contact). For designers, I'd go for Night and re-use last year's awards because, frankly, they weren't used at all and were impressively designed. So that's sorted. Then you have about 5 people to basically do all of the awards. Depends on how they are. If they are little enough, you could cope with about 3 people. So: - Figure out how many awards you have. - Re-open this topic. - People who want to help can help. Edit: Although this is totally irrelevant if Night doesn't want people to use the award. I'm not a fan of the YCMA really, just because of its past history.
LZ also had a good idea for the awards process, as to say that the awards should be made ahead of time, and not be personalized until the votes are tallied up at the last minute. That's exactly what I am trying to accomplish now. I will try and make this work. That's the bottom line.
.Rai
I'm pretty sure that takes more time anyway. You have to open up your program of choice twice, and the second time is just to change the text to another name and quickly paste in an avatar. It might not be the most attractive option, but I feel as thought it could cut the workload significantly.
.Rai
That's how I thought it was going to work in the first place, which is why I suggested that's how to split the workload. It's very easy just to get 3 people to split the awards between themselves, so no-one has a ridiculous amount of documents on their computer of the same stuff. The template will just be the work of the design team.
Night
You know absolutely nothing of the design process, it would honestly be a waste of time instructing you on how the process is done, because clearly you are not interested in that, if you were you would have done your research and browsed old gfx recruitment threads (It's still stickied in showcase, there is no excuse as to why you have not familiarized yourself with it). No, clearly you want the slight popularity boost that comes with hosting a YCMA, and allow for the gfx team to do all of the work while all you have to do is pitch a few ideas and make the threads. If it all falls apart however, just blame whoever's in charge of gfx. There is absolutely no possible way any competent showcase member will join your 'team', good luck getting some one who uses anything better than MS paint, or better yet lose the ignorance and conjure up your own damn awards. Then again, you could always hand the role over to someone who is better equipped to handle the job, because clearly you are not.

Fusion X. Denver
Well, YCM was fine with going awardless the past two times, why not just do it that way again? And any winners that want something flashy for their sig can ask for it in Requests on their terms. Some people will probably be satisfied enough with the title anyways. CinnamonStar
Guys, calm your farms. At least someone is stepping up and running the Awards people have been asking for. That sh*t goes, alright? Anyway, I'll admit that the GFX part was often done wrong in the past, not by the artists themselves, but the people who hired them. I personally tried to leave the designers the freedom to do things as they wish, mainly because my knowledge of GFX is equal to null. But guess it's not that great to be basically told "GFX pls" with no head or tails to work on.:/ The very old Awards (like 2008/2009-ish) were done graphics-less, but I feel like they add something nice. It makes them look...less impersonal and more event-like? The ones from last time (those that were never delivered) were fabulous for example. I won nothing, but they looked damn great. But just my personal 2 cents, I agree that one designer is enough. Maybe someone experienced designs the basic version and 1 or 2 others do a few edits when the results are in? Like names, avatars, single details.
