Jasqua
Hello there! My name is Jasqua, and I decided to try and make a realistic card set. This is my first set, and all the pictures are found at photobucket(though I edit them with paint.net). Anyway, without further ado, here they are. Darj
To be honest, what you got so far is pretty bad: Galactic: It requires 4 more Paladins on field to reach a decent ATK (2000), but until then it won't stand for long, even less with its redirecting effect. You don't have ways of summoning multiple "Guardians" neither, so giving him high ATK will take several turns, and will be destroyed before that happens. On the other hand, this card can be powerful in Mirror Matches (when fighting another "Paladin" Deck). What you could do for this guy is giving him an starting ATK value, 1000 doesn't sound too bad: He will gain 1500 from itself, and any additional Guardian will allow him to reach 2000. Guardian: The effect of searching a a comrade is always welcomed in any archetype (see "Elemental HERO Stratos", "Machina Gearframe", "Madolche Magileine", etc.) but usually these recruiters don't require any Tribute, unlike your Guardian. As such, this card could be better as a Level 4, and of course with a proper ATK reduction: To 1800, or 1900 if you want her to stand out over other recruiters. Ranger: A worse version of any "Monarch" monster because of the specific destruction conditions, and also if it destroys a weaker monster than your weakest "Paladin", you could get rid of that monster by simply attacking it with said Paladin. If you want to improve this card, just change it so it destroys up to 2 cards on your opponent's field. Apprentice: Because I am suggesting to lower your only 2-Tribute "Paladin" to Level 4, this would have no longer an use. Acolyte: Altough she can be searched by Guardian, sha barely has an use except for boosting "Galactic's ATK, which is not that great. The only thing going for her is "Rescue Rabbit", but I don't know why would you want to Summon 2 copies of her when you have no "Paladin" Xyzs and there are better Normal Monster targets. My suggestion would be to make a "Paladin" Rank 4 Monster to preciesly make use of Rabbit. Said Xyz could have a somewhat powerful effect (see "Evilswarm Bahamut") as a reward of playing "Paladins". Mage: I left this one for the last because is the only promising card of the "Paladins", but only because of the Tails effect. Drawing a card for free is usually overpowered, but this card got 2 conditions to balance it. Still, you could increase this card's ATK further so he will be able to stand against the standard Level 4 beatsticks, who have 1800-2000 ATK: An starting ATK of 1500 (so it will be searchable by Sangan and Shining Angel) + 500 ATK from his Heads effect (instead of 200) should be fine. Also, the Mage makes me feel that "Paladins" could become an anti-DARK archetype, similar to how "Ally of Justices" counter LIGHTs, so you could design your Paladins around that concept. Jasqua
-snip-
Well wow, I guess I can see it that way, though I haven't really been that much into Yugioh for a few years, so I have no idea what an "Xyz" is, though I guess I'm supposed to. The plan with the first one was actually for it to be a relatively weak card for you to use if you already have some paladins out. I had actually considered giving the guardian one no effect, but I felt it needed one as a high leveled creature. But oh well. And yes, the acolyte is just a weak card that's just there to be there. The last time I played was when 1250 was pretty good for a level 4 creature ._.'
