itt I try to make an archetype that isn't based on mass summoning or destruction

Spectral Keeper
Level 4; LIGHT
[Zombie/Tuner/Effect]
When you would Normal Summon this card, you can Banish it instead of placing it on the field. If this card is Banished, you can target 1 of your Banished cards, except "Spectral Keeper": Shuffle it into the Deck. If this Banished card would be shuffled back into the Deck by a card effect: Draw 1 card after resolution.

Spectral Equalizer
Level 4; WIND
[Warrior/Effect]
When you would Normal Summon this card, you can Banish it instead of placing it on the field. If this card is Banished by the effect of a "Spectral" card, or from your Graveyard, your opponent banishes 1 card in their hand. Then, they can draw 1 card, and if they do, you draw 1 card. If this Banished card would be shuffled back into the Deck by a card effect: Add 1 "Spectral" card from your Deck to your hand after resolution.

[Fiend/Effect]
When you would Normal Summon this card, you can Banish it instead of placing it on the field. If this card is Banished by the effect of a "Spectral" card, or from your Graveyard, your opponent banishes 1 card they control. Then, they can select 1 of their banished cards or cards in their Graveyard, and if they do, target 1 of your banished cards or cards in your Graveyard. Both players add their respective card to their hand. If this Banished card would be shuffled back into the Deck by a card effect: Destroy 1 card on the field after resolution.

When you would Normal Summon this card, you can Banish it instead of placing it on the field. If this card is Banished, you can Normal Summon 1 "Spectral" monster in addition to your Normal Summon or Set until your next End Phase. You can only gain this effect once per turn. If this banished card would be shuffled back into the Deck by a card effect: You can reveal the top 5 cards of your deck, and if there are any "Spectral" monsters among them, you can Special Summon 1 of them. Then, shuffle your deck.

Spectral Annihilator

[Dragon/Effect]
When you would Tribute Summon this card, you can Banish it instead of placing it on the field. If you do, your opponent targets 3 cards on their field or in their hand and banishes them. If this banished card would be shuffled back into the Deck by a card effect: Special Summon it. This effect of "Spectral Annihilator" can only be activated once per duel.

1 "Spectral" Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters.
Cards and effects cannot be activated in response to the Synchro Summon of this card. The effect(s) of this card cannot be negated. You can Synchro Summon this card by shuffling the above Banished cards into your deck and negating their effect(s), but the non-Tuner monsters have to be "Spectral" monsters. If you do, you can only activate the first bulleted effect of this card. You can shuffle 1 banished "Spectral" monster into your deck and negate its effect(s) and activate 1 of the following effects:
[*]If this card would leave the field by battle or by an opposing card effect, you can have it lose 1000 ATK/DEF instead, until your next End Phase. This effect can be activated during either player's turn.
[*]Special Summon 1 "Spectral" monster that is either Banished or in your Graveyard, but halve all battle damage involving it.
[*]Banish 1 card on the field or either player's graveyard. If a card on the field is banished, the original controller draws 1 card.

Rank 4; LIGHT
[Fairy/Xyz/Effect]
2 or more Level 4 "Spectral" monsters
Instead of Xyz Summoning this monster using monsters on the field, you can use any "Spectral" monsters that are banished as Xyz Material. This card gains 300 ATK for every Banished "Spectral" monster. Any Xyz Materials that would be detached from this card are Banished instead of sent to the Graveyard. Once per turn, you can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card: Banish 1 card from your hand, Deck, field, or Graveyard, and if you do, you can shuffle 1 other Banished card back into your Deck. If this card has no Xyz materials: Banish it.
1500 ATK/ 1000 DEF

Spectral Strike
Continuous Spell
Once per turn, you can pay 1000 Life Points and target 1 banished Spectral monster: It can attack as if it were face up on the field. If it were face up on the field and removed from the field by a card effect or battle: Shuffle it into your deck.

Spectral Failsafe
Continuous Spell
This card cannot be targeted or destroyed by other card effects. During your Standby Phase, pay 1000 Life Points and banish 1 "Spectral" monster in your hand or on your field or destroy this card. Once per turn, you can shuffle 1 banished "Spectral" monster into your deck. Negate the effect of any card that would prevent a monster(s) from being banished.

Spectral Zone
Field Spell
Banished monsters cannot be Special Summoned, except by the effect of a "Spectral" card. During the Draw Phase, or at the time this card is activated, the turn player can activate 1 of the following effects in addition to their normal draw. If they do, they cannot activate Field Spells, or card effects that would cause this this card to leave the field this turn:
[*]Banish 1 card in your hand: Draw 1 card.
[*]Shuffle 1 monster into your Deck: Draw 1 card.

Spectral Calling
Continuous Trap
During either player's Main, Standby, or Battle Phase, you can pay 800 Life Points to Special Summon 1 banished "Spectral" monster. All battle damage involving it becomes 0, banish it during your next End Phase, and banish it when it leaves the field. During the turn this effect is activated, the monsters Summoned by this effect cannot be used as a Synchro or Xyz material monster.


Included is an attempt at a balanced themed field spell and deck searcher

As a whole these cards look really interesting, I'd love to playtest them but don't
have time right now. I'll take a poke at two cards though:

(1) Spectral zone is like Necrovally for GraveKeepers?
Doesn't seem overpowered since MST etc exists.

(2) Spectral calling seems REALLY strong because you can just spam the crap out of it as long as
you have the LP to back it up.


I like your idea, tbh I've been fed up myself with each new archetype just being about how to swarm faster.
They lack creativity as a whole.
