So I was wondering, how does this card fare in the current meta? I side it in most of my decks to put a halt to shenanigans pulled off by Mermanteans, Dark Worlds and Fire Kings. But I meant outside of DN is it any good?

Rabbit is a field-effect.
Why the hell would someone think you Banish Rabbit, in order to activate the effect of said Banished rabbit?
Banishing it from the Field is it's cost/activation, to activate it from that very same place.

Because they think this works like Skill Drain for Banished monsters.

Still see no reason to run this. Macro Cosmos stops Atlanteans/Mermails better and it doesn't completely hinder the Deck in the process. Plus, Macro works well against even a random Sangan, Mystic Tomato, Gravekeeper's, etc.

Some decks just can't afford to run Macro.

Shuts down Dark Worlds and a few other cards. Well, except Grapha's revival, but it's hard to get more advantage when your Dark Worlds suddenly stop netting those plusses.

The most important thing to note is it says the effects cannot be ACTIVATED. It does not negate them. Chaining this to an effect that activates in the Graveyard will not stop it (because it's already activated, and is not being negated, same reason Safe Zone doesn't stop a targeting effect it chained to).

It doesn't stop on-Field effects because Skill Drain and Soul Drain work in completely different ways. Soul Drain says the effect cannot be activated from Grave/Banished, and Skill Drain says monsters that are faceup on the Field are negated. If Skill Drain also prevented activations, Stardust, Rabbit, etc would not work. Skill also requires the monsters to be faceup when they resolve, so them becoming facedown or leaving the Field before resolution will allow them to resolve normally.

Compared to Veiler/etc which negate effects that activate or apply on the Field, regardless of where they are when they resolve.
