The problem I have with the official thing is that it's wrong for two different reasons.

What are those reasons?

Firstly, the election (allegedly) closed at 00:00 GMT, however votes were still being counted way way past this point. This lead to certain people getting more votes then they should have.

And honestly, I'm okay with that, and I personally thought 40 hours was way way too short a time for something as important as this.

However secondly, the election ended rather arbitrarily, meaning that some votes that were still pouring in were not counted.

I don't personally believe there was anything malicious behind these two actions, however it's:

1) Sloppy as hell

2) Not an accurate reflection of what the CC community wanted for a mod

tl;dr - If the election closed at 00:00 GMT like it should have, seattleit would not have won (no disrespect meant whatsoever). And if the election stayed open to actually accurately count the votes of people still voting, seattleit still would not have won.

I wanted to cast my vote but I wasn't done reading all the manifestos... :/

I say we gave a do-over, leaving more time for people to vote, like a week.

I agree with this. Two days is not enough time for a lot of people to read the manifestos carefully and make an educated decision. A week would give people plenty to do that, especially those who have crazy schedules and didn't have the time originally.

I mean no disrespect to admins but why is this in Realistic Cards? No need to break your own rules in my opinion...

This election directly affects RC and how it will function from here on. Having the thread here is the most appropriate choice. And screw the rules, I have money! XD

... It's a topic about the current state and future of Realistic Cards.

Edit: Damn it Sora.

On-topic: So there's three people calling for a do-over. That's hardly enough for a "YCM" majority. Anyone else have anything to add to this topic?

I'm not just saying this because I want to be the Moderator, but why not take the top 2 highest percentages and have the Moderators review their policies and manifestos and see which one they believe is better suited for the job?

I mean I was told by two other people that I would've received their votes if they had more time, so we would've been tied in essence at that point.

It's almost as many as seattleitte won by =/

Are going to have to vote to see if we need to vote?

Pika, isn't a "YCM" majority 4 votes? So, don't we need 1 more vote for a redo? Mugen, it could be the fact people had no time at all.

And tbh, I think the results were tainted by troll applications. So, I would go out and say 4 candidates would make sense. That and make it weighted (4 for best candidate down to 1 for last choice) instead of winner takes all.

exactly it's sort of like the way the United States does the Electoral College

I just think that would eventually focus on the policies instead of losing popularity

even better just redo the election with like it clearly established . Of time. and only those of us who were actually serious about applying to be considered for the applications

I think the election should be redone simply because of the small minority that Seattleite got. First Past the Post doesn't work to represent what people actually want. The alternative vote is a much better way of conducting elections, especially when you gave us almost no time to vote, and a lot of us were conflicted about who we should've voted for.

I agree. I know, just using myself as an example, my Application/Manifesto was like 2 pages long, and others were about the same length. To expect people to read all of that and actually formulate opinions takes more than a day. I'd say do a new application thread, let us re-post our applications, and give people a bit more time to vote, and actually promote the fact that the voting is up. I know a few people who didn't even realize the voting had happened yet.

No offense to Seattleite, but given by his manifesto, all he stated is to boost activity, especially for his program. He didn't mention anything like the mentorship program that was suggested by Striker, or to bring more detailed reviews to RC. All he did is suggest that people use his program to balance cards. That's a good suggestion, sure. but it doesn't solve the problems that CC is in.

So yeah, all this ended up in a popularity contest, which is exactly what is not needed.

I believe I called this, too, the day I posted that status encouraging people to vote and everyone got on me saying I was "promoting" and to just "chill and let it happen", when in reality had people known the ideas and stuff instead of just voting based on popularity things would've been different. I don't know Seatillete at all; hell, he's probably better suited than me for the position, but I don't think the election results were actually fair especially if you consider that we could vote for ourselves, so how many of the votes were even from other members?
