An age old battle...that will never be resolved.

And then you remember Marvel has X Men and the Phoenix and Mephisto. Then you remember Superman & Superboy Prime. Then your remember Thor Loki Thanos and Galactus.DEADPOOL. If the Hulk could fly or Tony Stark makes a suit of Kryptonite, then it no longer matters. I vote Marvel. Both comics actually make great comics and characters (Wolverine & Spidey evoke just as emotion as the Martian Manhunter & Batman). The thing is Marvel Characters have a wider range of broken that continues to expand whilst DC seems to be getting new to these levels of Brokenness in anyone except Supes.

Don't diss batman. He is the DC nation! -.- Aquaman sucks.

Me diss batman? Never! I'm just saying that you can't just say that its the heroes tools or powers that make them.

Oh right. Sorry, DC.

He can jump from continent to continent and into Earth's lower orbit, that's close enough.

Marvel is stronger, if that's what you're asking, I don't think DC has an omnipotent character like The One Above All.

Overall sure, though DC has Superman :T
A lot of people would have to team up with both of the Hulks to take him down, I think.

If you're a die hard comic fan you'll know a couple of things.

The comparison of the 2 powerhouses
1. Ironically Batman keeps a small amount of kryptonite in his belt which was given to him by superman himself in the "k" series of superman/batman issues #44-49. He did this to feel more human knowing he has a weakness and he did this in case he goes rogue, which he did in two Frank Miller comics. In all his comics he has tasted defeat more than a few times.

2. The Hulks power is immeasurable, In a couple comics he literally ripped a hole in space and time physically (I know its stupid), but according to official lore he can travel through time using brute strength. He is the only one theoretically able to lift Thor's hammer, the running gag is that he is always interrupted in his attempts. In his comics he has never known defeat because his ability to overcome a more and more as he is more and more in a pinch.

Strengths and Weaknesses as a whole
1. DC characters have drastic and simple weaknesses, Green lantern can easily be killed by a #2 pencil because it is yellow, Superman is weak to kryptonite, Batman faces mental stability and code of conduct issues that are easily manipulated/exploited by many of the villains in his comics, Flash's unhealthy obsession with crime by law clouds his mind with crime by morality, John Constantine and Jonah Hex are limited to their tools and afterlife. But at the same time these powers contribute no direct side effects, all these weaknesses are from external sources and could easily be put under control. The DC universe very rarely stands united because of their personal agendas and have been subjected to being turned against each other countless times.

2. Marvel characters for the most part have common man weaknesses and are not put in the extreme. A gun shot wound could still be fatal to many of its characters. Their powers are more subjected to harmful side effects, from lack of control to permanent injury. The Hulk for example could easily hard his Marvel team more than help it. The un-perfected super serum and cross genetic mutations of oscorp causes insanity at times, Wolverines admantium skeleton requires constant max healing, keeping his real healing index at a minimum, Ant mans power is well... I'd kind of say worthless and I consider that a side effect of turning yourself to the size of an ant and having proportionally still just human strength. In return they are more likely to stand united, even magneto a the Professors rivalry or spider-man and Venom rivalry could easily be put aside to combat a common enemy, in this case DC.

Man Power and Morale
1. The DC Universe is although stronger one for one, they are simply outnumbered and an single loss effects them 10x more drastically than a marvel hero loss. Even the loss of Aqua man which you would think is insignificant is actually extreme overpowered as he has pretty much the only water based form of advantage of both DC and Marvel universes since Marvel water heroes are extremely under powered in comparison. Both Hawk man and Hawk girl could easily dominate the skies even against Thor a Demi-god one-on-one they would be at an advantage by reason of lore, but being outnumbered by support from iron man, human torch, storm, vision, Etc Etc, eventually once they are gone they lose advantages by huge chunks.

2. The marvel universe splits power between more heroes and so although one for one they would lose against DC characters easily, when united they out power the over powered. A loss doesn't seem as detrimental because of the fact that the loss was minimal in terms of fire power in comparison to a loss in a DC hero which would be at extremely high value. The only extremely high value loss would be from, Captain America's leadership, Hulk's strength and Professor X's intellect/information.

all in all by teams, going face to face Marvel is at an advantage, one-on-one DC will rape
comics as a preference however is all a matter of opinion.

...whew. For a second there, I thought this was a Superman vs Goku thread.

Anyway, I'm indifferent as to the whole thing. DC and Marvel are both great in their own way, but seriously...DC's gotta learn to accept the fact that Marvel conquered the movies. They aren't going to get anywhere with a rushed, unclear and unadvertised movie of the Justice League. Seriously.
