Let's Talk 2012 to 2013

I know there's already a New Years resolution thread, but that's not what this topic is. I'd love to hear your favorite moments of 2012. Your favorite movies, music, and video game releases. The funniest thing that happened to you to your greatest accomplishment. Anything. Let's just pile up the memories and share the laughs and leave all the bad behind and make next year a great one.

And I'm sure some of you are writers and you own blogs, so if you've written any inspirational pieces about the New Year, lets hear it.

I wrote my own piece for my blog, so I guess you can read it:
i’ve never been one for new years resolutions, probably because i never go through with them, but i have this really hopeful vibe for this year. i love new years because i love anything that has to do with starting anew and cutting ties with the past. i tend to mess up when it comes to the end of things, and although i’m good at fixing what i break, it usually just becomes a burden that follows me a few feet away. every new year, my lurking choices and regrets disappear, and i feel more refreshed and free. unattached to hurtful things, and just completely ready to get myself out there and run and laugh and live differently than all the years before.

i think this was my turning point year. i discovered what i dream to do in life, my true passions and style, and that i’m truthfully moonstruck and ridiculous, with a love and affection for the insane, the odd, and the artistic. i’ve grown through my love of finding beauty in unusual things and i’ve found myself in the cracks between pavements, in the spaces between a body’s ribs, and in the cold, windy, atmospheric days of pure energy and excitement. i’ve also established true friends from fillers and couldn’t be happier with the company i have.

but most of all, i learned the most through heartbreak, vulnerability, and madness. that getting your heart broken is beautiful for the first week, and then it gets ugly. and that you should respect yourself enough to let go of anyone who’s toxic in your life, no matter how much you love them. and as noble and poetic as it seems, waiting around for someone isn’t always a good thing. you should always just make things happen. i learned what it meant to hit such a depressing low and overcome that sadness in steps. and even though my heart was thrown to the ground, i’ve managed to patch it back up with only a few pieces missing to let in more light. and i’ve loved more ever since.

so goodbye 2012, i really did change a lot this year. and i’m proud.

2013, i hope to keep going on with this life, in a much more dynamic and lively way than the years before. i hope to take a longer stride towards my dream, and keep achieving in school and in my passions. i hope to meet more people who will expand my views on life and give me days to look forward to and adventures to take on. and i hope to never stop learning, advising, and listening. and let there be happiness and darkness and strangeness and love.

here’s to the new year.
As for New Years, what do you do? Go hard and get drunk? Or have a relaxing time with family?

For me, my mom always prepares a really extravagant dinner for our family. We dress up a little, which I love, and we eat and talk and laugh and then watch the New York New Years thing on TV. We blast the performances and then watch the ball drop, then after midnight, I go back to my room and blast Florence for a good hour and call up my best friends. No better way to start the New Year than with my favorite music and favorite people.

Anyways, discuss.

For what I'm happy about with 2012 in the...
Musical Category:
Squarepusher had released a new album, he's one of the few electronic legends to still exist today
Deadmau5 has finally stepped outside of Dance music, I always loved his really old stuff better
Movies Category:
Quentin Tarantino has resumed making movies
No Micheal Bay!! WOOT WOOT!!
What I do on 2013:
Well I sat with my dad and step mom and we watched some old movies, Airplane and the sequel, as well as Ferris Builler's Day Off

So yeah that's about it

For the best thing about 2012, I got a job back in June and am still at it (very proud of myself although the way the jobcentre are going about it makes me worse off....just for a 4 hpw job). I got off my anti-depressants at last. And finally got into college for my Teaching Assistant course. (Would have started '11 ,but it was like £1000 more than it was in '12)

I wonder when some wacko will predict the end of the world for 2013? Honestly, it happens at least once every year.

Once a year? Bit of an Under-statement.

2012? I'll be honest, not a great year for me. Went from 2 granddads to none. Finally got together with the girl I'd liked for 3 years, only to break-up within a week. Which in turn made me lose my best friend of 3 years, for that's what she was.

But, I did make many other friends, and the year's had some good moments. Finally got a band sorted out, we played our first gig (not very successful, but hey, we managed to play somewhere). Got a great new guitar. And, well, the short-lived relationship has boosted my confidence a little. Plus, I've discovered that I'm almost at Genius level IQ. Which is great and all.

2013 should be great, I would guess. It's off to a decent started already, and I'm promised tickets to a Bon Jovi gig, which is awesome. There'll be stress, what with GCSEs coming in June/July, but I can pass most of my subjects without trying. I've just gotta get revising for the sciences and maths and stuff, with them being what I want to pursue in further studies and what-not.

All in all; 2012 was not a great year, but had it's good points. 2013 should be better. Hopefully.
