Lv3 Effect Monster

ATK 300 / DEF 300

Once per turn, plus once more for each other "Starfish" you control: You can activate 1 of these effects. • Increase this card's Level by 1. • Reduce this card's Level by 1.
A couple of days ago, some over-exuberant person had put these up on the wikia as confirmed for LTGY.

Double checking ahead of posting this now the site's back, they've been removed.

Given that spaces 004-009 in the set are still open and the rest of Yuma's monsters are yet to be announced (Dotedotengu, Tatakawa Knight, Gagaga Kid, and ZW Eagle Claw), who obviously in the eyes of Konami Yuma > Shark, can only see two or even one of these being released. Can't see Big Whale coming, but Starfish might be nice with that effect. Because I would like to make my avi False Skeletal God Dragon in a Lemuria deck.

So... discuss?

Sharkraken looks awesome, honestly. Not competitively, necessarily, but Frog Decks or similar can use it pretty well, particularly with Ronintoadin or if they use the Nimble strategy.

Starfish would be cool, too. Being able to be Level 2, Level 4 by itself, or up to Level 6 with more Starfish is very nice. The only problem is how you plan to swarm with them. But even if you can't Summon 3 at once easily, it still would be an interesting option in Lemuria Decks.

I'm borderline obsessed with getting Number 92 to work in Lemuria Decks. The problem is that the best ways to do it require more investment than necessary. You need either 3 Level 6 (this is why I like Sharkraken), or 3 Level 5s with another WATER on the Field, or 3 Level 4s with 5 on the Field. And alarmingly, WATER doesn't run that many amazing options to do this.

Although it can easily MAKE the play with Ronintoadin and Inferno Reckless Summon (getting 3 Des Frogs, which is Level 5) and using Lemuria's effect to boost them all by 4 Levels, that strategy means running 3 Des Frogs and at least 1 Inferno Reckless Summon, which is often conditional on its own merits.

Big Whale could be run if you're going to go for Number 92 using Thinking Towards Tomorrow and Galaxy Queen's Light. I suppose there are still very nice combos using it, like Mother Grizzly Summoning it, but its effect is only good if it's Normal Summoned, and you should never be doing that. LADD should be run in any sort of Frog/Water Deck long before any other 2 Tribute monsters are considered (Obelisk doesnt count here).

Is it wrong that I want to see Fish Spawn (i.e: the card Shark uses to summon Big Whale), even though it would have to be nerfed so hard. Making it either a Photon Santuary or Fires of Doomsday would be cool, but it might be broken, not sure. Coelacanth could abuse it, certainly.

As for the others, while we need more level 9s, Big Whale is bad. Really bad. Starfish is nice but apart from IRS I can't see how you'd get out more than 1 (inb4 Three Slice). Sharkraken is nice, but I can't see any competitive deck running it. There are better alternatives.

I'd like Fish Spawn to be released, but I don't think there's any gaps in LTGY's structure for it? (double checks....)

Nah, seems we're just getting four of Yuma's Spells and Barian's Force. Torrential Rebirth still seems pencilled in.

Well, maybe we will. Shark's gotta get a Duelist pack eventually hasn't he? Some of these cards could go there.

Would assume Sharkraken would get an additional effect.

Dammit. And I was so hoping for it. Well, I suppose there might be space in the next pack, mightn't there?
