Ceruli, Guru of Dark World

If this card is discarded to the Graveyard by a card effect: Special Summon this card from the Graveyard to your opponent's side of the field in face-up Defense Position. When this card is Special Summoned by the effect of a "Dark World" card: Your opponent must discard 1 card.

Why are more people not running this in DW? O_O

I put just 1 in my Dark World deck, and it works beautifully. Punished Spellbooks for using Divine Judgement xD

A number of reasons:
• it gives your opponent a monster, which makes OTKing at least slightly harder.
• Let's say you discarded Sillva in both cases.
Example of no Ceruli: Dark World Dealings (-1), draw, discard Sillva (+1). You even out. Same is true of you had discarded Snoww or Broww.
Example of Ceruli: Dark World Dealings (-1), Ceruli (-1), discard yet another card - Sillva (0), opponent puts two cards back (+2). Overall, you still have 0 card advantage (or maybe rather, 1 card advantage and your opponent is safe from your next attack). That's the best case scenario using Sillva. If you had discarded Snoww or Broww instead, that last interaction only gets you (at most) +1 more, leaving you at -1 card advantage (or maybe rather, 0 card advantage and your opponent has one more meat-shield than you did before).
So for maximum usage of Ceruli, you have to use the Level 5 Dark Worlds, which Goldd can be stopped too easily (and a Starlight Road will ruin you) and Sillva can become useless given the right condition (opponent having 1 or no cards in hand). Grapha also works, but it is much more luck-based to get the +2 effect to work.
• Ceruli works negatively if Skill Drain is on the board, since it just gives the opponent a monster.

I know somebody who played Dark Worlds in every pure variant, and his general conclusion is that it's too situational and drains too many cards.

Wait, so how does this punish Spellbooks for playing Divine Judgment?

Scrolled down to post this.

Used 2 of this with 2 of Silva, and a bunch of dragged down/dwd, reduced his hand from 6 to 2 and put good stuff in the Grave. :p

Pretty much sums up everything I needed to ask. xD

I'm still keeping 1 copy, just in case I ever need to use the second effect of anything.

But that isn't punishing a Spellbook for using Divine Judgment.  In fact, if anything, Divine Judgment has actually preserved the advantage you had.  You merely had a situation that allowed you to perform that combo, and you pulled it off successfully.

Maybe, but I did feel pretty awesome for doing it. Anyway I won that match, so it's okay
