So I made a card really to help tribute summoning and Synchros.

Tell me what you think! And remember, if this card ever to become real, it would be banned to 1, of course.

Overlay Summoning Ground
SPELL
While this card is face-up on the field,  any Xyz Material monsters detached from a face-up Xyz Monster you control that would be sent to the Graveyard is Special Summoned in face-up defense position instead. Reduce the ATK and DEF of any monster Special Summoned by this effect to 0, their effect(s) are negated, and cannot be used as Xyz Material. If this card leaves the field; destroy all face-up monsters Special Summoned by this effect. Both player's can only activate "Overlay Summoning Ground" once per duel.

I think making a card with the intention of limiting it stinks of bad design. I also think this card does nothing for the meta. Imagine the fun that Mermails would have with something like this. It practically allows you a free load of Special Summons as a reward for using an Xyz monster in an intended way. It would make more sense, (though still not a lot) to have it that a material was detached by this card and SS, meaning that you can choose to have the monster, OR use it as a material for your Xyz.

It's mostly for stalling your opponent and summoning cards from your hands that need tribute like Monarchs for example.

I don't think as the SS monsters as much of monsters anymore, but more of tokens.

+The SS monsters, if they have effect(s), could activate them and get the game going.

It's also, like I said, used for Synchro so you can have the ease of a synchro AND an Xyz on the field - but that could be more than slightly hard to do but obtainable.

I agree with Plainview in the idea that this is a bad design. It allows for easy synchros, they keep their effects, it's just a bad idea all around. You say you think of them as Tokens, but the fact is, they aren't. They still get their effects and can be used as Tributes, and you still get to activate your Xyz Monster's effect with the addition of another monster. Mermails could totally abuse this. It just isn't a good card. Plainview's idea to make them choose between the Xyz Monster's effect or the monster is a good idea. Might want to look into that.

Honestly, how often do Meta decks tribute? The only real thing I can think about is Monarchs.

And so what if it's good for Synchros? Nobody's really running them that much so they could need an extra support. Decks today barely have Tuners, except for Veiler who is hardly ever on the field.

And yes, I do think of them as Tokens - they're useless and only good for tributing and there are tokens with effects.

But yes, Plainview did have a good suggestion for the effect part so that will change.
