Lightning having 500 attack was the worse one, making Debris so much better in the deck.

 

OT: Yeah... the Chibi's turned the deck from regular levels of broken, to broken broken. Not much more to say.

I think Elemental Dragons would have been a much cooler concept if they had recognized that a Deck full of the things and their chibi forms would have been insanely powerful before they printed the chibi forms.

 

I like the baby dragons, I really do, but I think they should have only been able to send monsters of the same Attribute, not a Dragon OR monster of same Attribute. The synergy of the 4 Dragons and the 4 babies is just too much considering how hard it is to get rid of them all. If the Dragons are banished they search for the baby form, the adult form, or another Dragon in your Deck of the same Attribute. And you banish them as fodder to Summon the others. And Summoning the adult form with the baby form isn't one of the Elemental Dragons' effect uses, letting them spam even more.

 

Or, the argument could be made that Big Eye needs to be banned.

Except for the fact that Dragossack still exists, which can solve almost any problem that Big Eye can, along with a variety of others (Such as backrow). LaDD also preys off Dragossack's tokens.

Really, Big Eye isn't the problem, it actually is the Elemental Baby Dragons. The deck can't function with the Baby dragons, but the Adult forms are a good bit of support for a lot of different decks without being individually broken.

I guess the OCG/TCG finally managed to hit the concept alluded to in the anime that Rank 7 is considerably more powerful. (When facing Big Eye, Yuma and Astral seemed taken aback by the power of a Rank 7 Xyz). Now that the E-Dragons can drop Rank 7s with laughable ease, suddenly we realize that Rank 7s are scary.

Summary of how Konami should have handled the Elemental Dragons:

 

Step 1: NEVER Print the Baby Dragons

Step 2: Only allow the Bigger Dragons to banish cards of their same Attribute for summoning.

 

Then all they'd need to do is hit the decks that abuse them an maybe put them all to 2.
