Death Gods

I apologize in advance if I've completely screwed something up; I decided to take an old idea that I had a couple years ago and essentially recreate it. But it's currently 2am where I live right now, so I doubt I was in the right mindset - therefore, please note that the execution of the concept is probably quite abysmal.

As always. good constructive comments and suggestions are much appreciated.

Now, behold the horror (literally) that is Hades...

Lore:

This wicked lord of the undead was born from a mutation that occurred during the Apocalypse. Though relatively weak by its own power, it feeds on the souls of the living to increase its strength. Upon collecting enough souls, it releases its stored power into the atmosphere, destroying all of its surroundings and allowing it to evolve into its final form, a demonic being of absolute evil.

Effect:

Cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. Must first be Special Summoned (from your hand) by banishing 1 “Annihilation Lord, Hades Trancedigaeth” you control or in your Graveyard. While you control another Zombie-Type monster, this card cannot be destroyed by card effects. Once per turn, when this card destroys a monster by battle: You can banish 1 card in your hand; Special Summon the destroyed monster to your field in face-up Defense Position.

Okay, that first one... That name and picture are WAY too much for a level four normal monster.

Not to be rude, but I would like to ask you to please refrain from making pointless and unjustified comments that serve no real purpose. Card names and pictures should have no correlation with what the card does or how strong it is...

I don't think you'd see this in TCG without a lot of censoring on the names of both card and the lore of the vanilla, since religious references tend to be frowned upon, so who knows what anyone'd say about that. I guess these contribute to a flavour towards the card which isn't very children's card game-y.

Now then, regarding the ultimate form, since his Vanilla could make a potential RabbitZombies.dek, as well as being a target for Pyramid Turtle, as well as Goblin Zombie, ditching your Vanilla Hades is no real problem: that, plus being pretty decent ATK stats make Chocolate Hades relatively easy to Summon. Obviously, it would still need a Zombie-themed Deck.

I think the Chocolate Hades' Nomi status somewhat justifies the immunity of card effect destruction when given allies. However, I don't think it reflects anything depicted in Vanilla Hades' lore. Regardless, I think that this immunity makes the Nomi nature worthwhile. At least it lasts longer than some of Zombies' already impressive Boss Monsters (then again, REZD can easily be Pyramid Turtled instantly.)

I can't say I am impressed by his effect. While snatching opponent's monsters is frowned upon when given easy opportunity, I thin banishing a card is a very steep cost for it. Then again it could be justified, especially if you've got Zombie Master to help with Xyz Spam.

One issues I think is apparent in terms of OCG is found here: "Once per turn, When this card destroys a monster by battle:" I do not think you're supposed to use capitals at the end of each comma. Correct me if I am wrong, though.

In sum: While the card lacks flavour in itself, in my opinion, as it seems to reflect an Entity of Pure Destruction vibe rather than a Zombie Army vibe, it could see decent play in a ZombieRabbit.dek as an alternative boss monster.

You're technically right of course, it's a design choice. It just makes it stand out in a weird way in my mind.

Once again, you fail to offer any helpful advice.

As for the cards themselves...

I like how you are incorporating Normal Monsters, and it surprises me that no one else has commented because that usually gets quite the positive welcome in RC, but I digress. The Normal Monster is nice, the flavor text is interesting, although it does seem like you are trying too hard, but that is a but a small matter. As Kyng has stated, the Normal Monster could be teched into a ZombieRabbit.dek. On to the kicker of the cards.

So obviously you are trying to outweigh the powerful effects with the situationality(is that a word?) of the card. The fact that it gets Effect Protection is nice, and may very well make the card worth playing. It does its job, and it does it well, but it seems to lack anything eye catching or original. Monster stealing...woopy. It has staying power, but is more difficult to get on the field. As Kyng said, it doesn't really keep with a Zombie Army theme, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but so far that is pretty much all we have seen in the actual game.

@ Kyng - In regards to the name, I don't know if "Hades" would be worth censoring, since there are already cards with names relating to Greek mythology (such as Athena, Bountiful Artemis, Chimera the Flying Mythical Beast, Prometheus King of the Shadows, etc.) And for that matter, the only reference mentioned in the lore would be the Apocalypse, which is a term which is also derived from Greek (though the meaning as we currently understand it as is quite different from what it used to be).

As for your OCG fix - that's just an accidental error on my part; it is not supposed to be capitalized. And thanks for your review; it's much appreciated.

Ah, yes, that's actually a good point there. With this in mind I'll respectively retract that comment.

@ Renegade - Yes, what you are saying is correct; I'm still questioning whether its summoning condition is situational enough to justify its effect (especially since there are many cards that can be used to set up for it - Foolish Burial, Armageddon Knight, Pyramid Turtle, etc.), but the idea was indeed to balance out a powerful effect by making the summoning conditions situational.

And regarding the concept of the cards (more specifically Mareth Morte) - it's more or less based off of Hades' own character - at least in accordance to the Greek myth of Hades and Persephone, where Hades drags Persephone down to the underworld with him.

Thank you as well for your feedback.

Good to see some cards again lol but this just seems to OP to me. I mean, it isn't super difficult to get monsters to the graveyard, especially Normal Monsters with Rabbit, so I think you get too much for the card IMO. But you had great flavour text on the Normal Monster, and as usual, I particular like the names you chose :)

It's true that it's not super difficult to get the vanilla in the Grave; but if it were difficult the card wouldn't be worth playing. I think it's situational enough as is, and the cost for the monster-stealing effect is actually quite steep, since it gives up precious hand advantage, not to mention the fact that it's difficult to use to your benefit.

Thanks for your comment, though - it's much appreciated.

Bump...

You might not understand it, but I lol'ed.

IMO it is OP, therfore no review only suggestions, you should make it only trigger when a face-up is destroyed, negate the effects of the SSed monster, prevent SSed monsters from being materials, add "You can only control 1 "Sinister.."." clause, change the second effect condition from Zombie to DARK (because Zombie World) and/or lower its ATK. I could give a reason for each one, if you would like me to do so.

Hope I help. ^_^

No, I did not understand :o

And I can see where you are coming from when you say it's OP'ed, but as I pointed out before, without such an effect (which already has a pretty steep cost, since banishing your resources is not ideal in Zombie decks), the card would be unplayable. I could add the only controlling one copy clause to it, but I feel that if I restrict it any more than that (especially with the monster stealing effect), the card would not be worth using at all.

Thanks for your feedback, though.

Thanks for your feedback, though.

If it almost always can not be destroyed and is 2700 ATK, I think it should not steal this efficiently. IDK maybe all I said indeed is too limiting, but I am sure that negating SSed monsters effects is not...

The reason I want to see it more limited is that I think of it as an "extra" card, I mean you can play a normal Zombie deck and then just SS this monster...

Also, though I find it alright, I do not understand how the cost is high, the effect still is +1.. however, that only happens because of battle not the effect itself...

EDIT: Nevermind, I am not good with CA, so I would not know what this really is.

I hope this helps.
