Goyo Guardian

Recommended Posts

Goyo is fine to come back. When he was banned, most people were really surprised and thought that it wasn't needed at all.

Who is "most people"?

No, seriously, what's your reference pool here? I've yet to meet a sizeable demographic of players who felt Goyo Guardian was harmless and should have been left alone.

There were people who said Goyo didn't need to be banned at the time of its banning, but I wouldn't call them a 'majority'.

Only because everyone loves using it.

I don't mind if my opponent summons Goyo on me. He's not that fantastic. And yes, he's certainly fun to use.

Ok then, to be fair, I'd say it was about 50/50, and people mainly saw it as a hit to Blackwings more than anything else.

I totally agree, but in certain situations it's incredible and it's just a really low-input high-output card.

At the time of a card's banning, there's almost always people outraged by it, usually because of their monetary investment into getting the card, or how they have to remake a portion of their Deck as a result. After a little time has passed, it's usually very clear in retrospect how horrible the card was and that banning it was a good move.

Banned cards can be fun to use, but that doesn't mean they're healthy for the game as a whole.

It was about £3-5 when it was banned iirc. I think it was just because everyone enjoyed using Goyo because it was incredible in certain situations, plus it was banned in Samurai format and it was a first-class out to Shi En.

I think Raigeki is fun to use. Can we have that @3?

You do realize, of course, that I said being fun doesn't mean healthy. Goyo is fun, but not healthy. Thus, it is banned. Your comment seems to be making a sarcastic jab when I didn't say anything to the effect of "Let banned cards be played".

I was providing an example, silly.

I didn't think we needed an example. We're already talking about Goyo.

But I digress, as I don't see a need to argue with someone with the same viewpoint as myself.

As far as I can tell, Goyo could come back if it was less generic, a different level and/or had at least 400 ATK less. 2800 is too much for what it does.

Just one thing -- why didn't you protect your monsters?

The did protect my cards, I just didn't always succeed in getting the right protection, and usually whoever I played had something like a solemn or a seven tools facedown to cover for goyo. I didn't lose to goyo guardian every time I faced him, I actually won a lot against him too. my favorite wins were when I used psychic jumper to steal him, What I meant by that post was I lost to goyo more than enough to leave a few hard feelings.

Let's look at some cards who are related to Goyo!

Any of you see a trend with that kind of effect? It's a matter of how generic and easy to summon Goyo is, along with his massive attack. I don't see how people can advocate bringing him back, I really can't. You either have to be horrible at theory or a troll.

You missed the first Goyo card of all:
