Another Set of Status-Based Requests [High-Level Generic Synchros]

Recommended Posts

Baldur, Ally of the Aesir
WIND/Psychic/Synchro/Level 10/2500 ATK/2500 DEF
1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters
If this monster would be destroyed (by battle or by card effect): You can banish 1 Tuner Monster from your Graveyard; This monster is not destroyed.

Concordia, Goddess of Harmony
LIGHT/Fairy/Synchro/Level 12/3000 ATK/2500 DEF

1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters

Must be Synchro Summoned, and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. This card's Synchro Summon cannot be negated. When Special Summoned, cards and effects cannot be activated. When this monster is Synchro Summoned: Draw 1 card for each non-Tuner Synchro Material Monster used to Synchro Summon this monster. This monster cannot be targeted or destroyed by your opponent's card effects. During your Main Phase: You can Tribute this monster to target 1 Synchro Monster in either player's Graveyard; Special Summon the target. You can only activate this effect of "Concordia, Goddess of Harmony" once per turn.

Baldur does little for the time and energy it takes to bring this out. I mean, all it is is a beatstick that can protect itself. If it was a Level 8 Synchro, that could work. However, it is a Level 10 and with that fact it takes more to bring it out. IMO, its effect does not justify using it. Also, it doesn't contribute to the overall play-style of Psychics.

Concordia is a bit iffy. Being Level 12, it does require a lot to bring this out. While the draw effect does replenish your advantage, it irks me since it acts as an inherent deck thinner at the same time (a big one at that). The inability to negate the Synchro Summon or activate card effects that might hinder its Summon help prevent the used resources from becoming a waste- a double edged sword if you ask me, but it works. The big issue that I see is that your opponent is forced to use big beaters in hope of getting rid of this before you use its effect. I don't like that one bit since it causes your opponent to waste too many resources. While this card takes a lot of resources, being virtually indestructible through all methods except battle is absurd. Considering you can dump this card for a monster that can fit the situation from either player's Graveyard, it's just a bit too much if you ask me.

I was considering that. Which is more absurd: the Tribute effect or the indestructibility?
