Lucky Draw

Hello,

I am new user and I have had a few concepts in my mind for quite a while now. Today I will show you my first card, I hope that you like it!

Lucky Draw: This card cannot be Summoned or Set. When the Duel would end in a Draw, reveal this card in your hand to win the Duel, instead. You cannot use the effect of Lucky Draw during a turn in which you activated a Trap Card.

Not very useful when playing meta decks, but I like this idea and I'm sure that some people could find it useful. :)  The Trap Card restriction is to prevent that people combo this with Self-Destruct Button. Feel free to state your opinion about this card.

This should really be in AoC, cause this is in no way realistic. You see, Draws are not a thing. At least not a thing which matter. Nobody would wish to Main Deck this, let alone Side it, since the chance of you getting to use it are very low. That said, it's an interesting concept, and you at least gave it the balance it needed so S-DB couldn't be annoying to deal with.

As far I have understood, "realistic" implies realistic effects and not realistic frequency of in-game use. This card's effect is not overpowered and a Draw is a possible game outcome, therefore this card is realistic. The fact that you will most likely not be able to use it frequently shouldn't matter. There are more than 5,500 different cards of which probably 4,000+ are used only very rarely. That doesn't make them "unrealistic". This Lucky Draw card would just be another to add to those 4,000 cards, but that doesn't matter, it's all about the concept.

Additionally, this card can still be combined with cards that increase the likelihood of a Duel ending in a Draw, such as Dark Snake Syndrome for example.

You missed the part where RC is supposed to be realistic AND balanced, not realistic and... this.

This is an example of a card made by somebody who is clearly angry after having a draw against Self-Destruct Button.dek. The problem here is that it turns a variety of cheap effects that force a draw into cheap effects that force a win. It clearly doesn't have a spot outside of it's own FTK/OTK deck, and that alone is warrant for this to not belong in RC. Alt wins are never good for the game, you know?

Hello ♥ Lesby Okuu~ ♥,

No, lol. I am an avid YGO fan and I have gone through a database of all trap and spell cards that exist. I have known S-DB for a long time and that is why I added the Trap Card restriction. As for you, you missed the part where the rules said things about behaviour. Drawing provocative stereotypical conclusions like the quoted one is absolutely inappropriate. Feel free to apologise whenever you feel ready to do so.

Any cards that I make/post in the future are very likely to contain a restriction if there exist other cards which would make it overpowered when used in combination. Furthermore, my card creations are based on research of already existing effects without considering in-game frequency because that is an unreliable variable as any new card release could affect its effect and thus also its in-game frequency.

As for "balanced". Sorry for apparently misinterpreting a term which hasn't been defined anywhere in the rules. While I appreciate that I have been made aware of it now, you could have done so in a more mature and appropriate manner without adding the unnecessary stereotyping and generalizing, which are never good for a discussion, you know?

Let's keep any discussion Lucky Draw-related now.

Kind regards,

July

why is it a monster? It would probably make more sense if it wasn't as similar as exodia

I just like the thought of it being an effect monster with a card effect that activates in the hand. An alternative version could be "discard to the Graveyard" instead of "Reveal in your hand". I didn't want it to be a Trap because it would make it even more difficult to actually use the card since it could be destroyed by MST or so then. Same goes for Spell Card as it would have to be a Quick-play one then which can also be destroyed (because you need to set it or you can't activate it during your opponent's turn).
