That said, Upstart Goblin is better for the main appeal, which is drawing a card. Des Troy in RL already can destroy itself on a whim (I assume the anime version couldn't). Giving up the ability to play a boss, in a deck that can only do just that, for some extra cards, can also be crucial all by itself if the timing "conveniently" goes wrong.
