So..... Moon Dance Ritual's effect....

Recommended Posts

Decided to lurk the internet and see if I could find something on Moon Dance Ritual:

And I came across it's actual effect:

Activate by selecting 1 Xyz Monster WIND choose, you control that has no Xyz Materials. As long as the monster is on the field, negate the effects of all face-up monsters on the field. If the monster leaves the field, destroy this card.During the End Phase of the turn this card is activated. Attach this card as an Xyz Material to the monster

It's a foreign source which explains the rough translation from this post.

So basically, it's like this:
You have a Material-less WIND Xyz, and it becomes a Skill Drain while Dance is in play. Then during the End Phase, Dance becomes a Material for that monster.

This actually seems pretty interesting.
Discuss.

I was wondering what Moon Dance Ritual's effect was. I remember last night when the MPB TCG exclusive was revealed, I was thinking "Well that's everything." then a while later I remembered "Drat I forgot about that trap card on the JOTL poster.

OT: More support for WIND Xyz, notbad.jpeg

With it being a continuous, I feel it SHOULDN'T negate stuff while a material, but whatever.

Obviously meant for Totem Bird, but it is still neat with Chidori, Dragossack, and whatever else. It's neat.

If that is the, it will make it better, if it isn't, it's sort of unplayable. But, I still think that the way it is worded would make it look like a lingering effect.

Is there anything you'd actually want to use this on?

Geez, why not use this card with that other TCG exclusive we had last set?  Y'know, the one that negates your opponent's S/T and has its stats reduced?  Gustos can use something like this if they wanted to.

Only problem is Totem Bird is a terrible card, and devoting deckspace to mitigate a terrible card is a terrible plan.

Since when is one-time S/T negation considered "terrible"?  Sure, it can only be used in a niche amount of decks, but that is the purpose of having a niche isn't it?  So that it would be able to boost those Decks' power and not others?  I'm pretty sure that any WIND-based Decks that can go into Rank 3 would definitely use it.  Plus, this card would actually be runnable in Gustos because of Recruiting tactics and stuff.

That's what's wrong with it. Currently standing, WIND is the worst attribute in the game by far. On top of that, none of them even really like to use Rank 3s. Harpies go into Rank 7s and 4s and Gusto don't really Xyz at all, they're too stun heavy to do stuff like that.

And even with Harpies Chidori usually doesn't stay out long enough to have no materials, Phantasmal isn't summoned often enough, and there really is no need to use this on Dracossack.

I honestly don't consider that a problem for the card as much as it is unable to use its potential due to a current situation (but will definitely be used when that situation is resolved).  We did establish that 92 is amazing, but as hard as titanium alloy to summon because there aren't reliable ways to go into 3 Level 9 monsters.  Really, the best way to use Totem Bird right now is through Rabbit Decks.

Also, using CotH to bring back a WIND monster seems hilarious, and timing this correctly with Dragossack could end up causing good levels of disruptions.

I might have implied that this card was good, but by no means is this card good.  However, it is always up to the player to find the best uses for the card to generate discussion, and this card seems interesting enough for me to investigate with.

It gives the effect to the monster. So if it leaves the field, it SHOULD negate the monsters on the field.

It's alright, it's just that most WIND Xyzs suck. =/

Why should it? Where does it give the effect to the monster? o-O

It looks like a continuous effect to me.
