Rank 4 Swarm

Recommended Posts

Even with Shock Master banned, I was surprised to see how consistent this deck is. Rank 4 has the most choice, and with it being so easy to get 3 level 4's onto the field, you can get some of the best of them too.

The key to the build is not just the swarm of summoning chains, but the draw power too.

Even if you don't always pull off its effect, 3 Sacred Crane usually come in handy, and get you an extra draw when used with Goblindbergh or Tin Goldfish or Call of the Haunted. The same applies for Star Drawing (although star drawing is more reliable, running both really helps keep hand advantage despite xyz'ing continually).

King of the Feral Imps gets kagetokage to your hand and makes a fantastic first turn xyz, to put a buffer between you and your opponent, and draw a card perfect for setting up your next xyz play in the process. Gear Gigant is an option too, but will only work with the Tin Goldfish/Toy Knight combo.

Daigusto Emeral is nice mid game, when you can return your kagetokage's and king of the feral imps to the deck, and draw a card in the process.

Reinforcement can search goblinbergh, photon slasher, or challenger sword (should you need a beatstick with mighty ATK). Gigantes can be useful too, and is easy to summon, it is a dead draw on the first turn or two though, so 1 is enough in my opinion.

My Body As A Shield negates most counters to the swarming, which will allow you to setup plays in your hand when your opponent does finally get around your xyz. Toy Knight is easy to summon, although its secondary effect is very circumstancial, its worth running just for its initial effect, allowing it to special summon if your opponent has a front row field advantage.

Call of the Haunted allows for more special summoning, and Pot of Duplicity is there for when attacking doesn't seem wise, but by taking advantage of the diversity of this deck's typings, can return useful cards to the deck, and draw 2 cards in the process.

Hmm, Instant Fusion would be a nice alternative to Call of the Haunted, being a spell and all. Never really even considered doing that. Thanks!

And that would make summoner monk more viable in the process, but this deck isn't exactly spell heavy and the spells it does have are usually needed.

Definitely will add instant fusion though, maybe at the cost of 1 My Body as a Shield, and 1/2 call of the haunted.

I'd use 104 over Disigma in the extra.

104 is just a really solid all around beater, and is one of the best 3 material rank 4's, arguably higher up than disigma.

I'm also not sure where, but I would try and fit in Lance in here somehow. Maybe over Thrasher/gigantes?

The thing I dislike about Masquerade is that the effect is so obvious, that your opponent will never fall into its trap, even though it might restrict them as a result.

It is worth trying though, so I'll give it a go.

Lance is a good idea, I don't use it much, but I really should, so yeah, maybe I'll remove the thrasher. Gigantes really is an asset at times though, with there being so much earth attribute in this deck. Even if I don't xyz with it, it has 1900 atk, and if my opponent has back row it can stall them, providing their backrow can't remove it immediately from the field anyway.

Except if they aren't using the monster effects in the battle phase they want to, then you are in the better position don't forget? And some effects are manditory, so they have no choice in the matter.

You could probably get away with siding out the MST's for Lance I'd wager. I mean, I've seen it done a decent amount of the time.

That is true, if the opponent already has a monster with a nasty effect on the field, this could overthrow it. I like my Disigma too much to swap with, but I rarely use Kachi Kochi/Crazy Box, so I'll swap one of those out for it instead.

I like the MST siding out idea too, what good is my opponent's back row if they can't successfully use it? :D

Thanks for the replies.

@Infinite Rainbow

Definitely true, with 3 instant fusions (maybe less, my extra deck needs lots of xyz's), 3 lances, and maybe keeping some MST's, Summoner Monk becomes more viable.

Glad I posted this, these ideas completely flew over my head.
