The power of darkness will dye the card to draw pitch black, DARK DRAW! - Dark Zexal

You can target 1 "Number C39" monster you control and up to 1 spell/trap card your opponent controls; equip this monster from your hand or your side of the field to the first target and if you do, destroy the other target (if any). The equipped monster's effects cannot be activated. Once per battle, during either player's damage calculation, when the equipped monster battles a monster with equal or higher ATK: double the equipped monster's ATK. During its controller's Battle Phase if its opponent controls a monster after its first attack, the equipped monster can make a second attack during that Battle Phase. If the equipped monster attacks directly, any battle damage inflicted becomes its original ATK.

Rulings notes:

- The ATK remains doubled until the effect of Archfiend scythe is 'gone' (negated, left the field, ect)

- The ATK doubling effect stacks if you use it in 2 or more different battles.

- The ATK won't double unless the battled monster has equal or more ATK.

- If waboku, kuriboh, ect, is used on a direct attack by the equipped monster, no damage is dealt.

You can target 1 "Number C39" monster you control; equip this monster from your hand or your side of the field to that target. The equipped monster gains 600 ATK but its effects cannot be activated. Once per turn, while this card is equipped to a monster and you control the equipped monster: you can target 1 card your opponent controls; destroy that target and if you do, inflict 1200 damage to your opponent.

Why "cannot be activated" instead of "negated"? here's why:

I don't really like Archfiend Scythe. It's too similar to Chimera Cloth (Clad), what with destroying an opponent's S/T, preventing the equipped monster from destruction, and doubling the equipped monster's ATK, plus allowing a second attack.

In fact, Scythe is ridiculously broken, at that. It doubles the ATK once per battle, then can attack another monster, which means its ATK can be doubled again. Combined with the S/T destruction effect, it's a blatant OTK card.

Even if you just use C39 - Ray with 2500, equip this and attack something, it becomes 5000 ATK. Then if your opponent has another monster, it attacks again and has 10,000. Add the same DZW to C39 - V or Victory, and you have something ridiculously OP.

Firebird Launcher is also kind of ridiculous, but not quite as much as Scythe. For some reason, it ALSO has an S/T destruction effect when you equip it, and then once per turn, you can nuke any one opponent's card and inflict 1200 damage, plus it gives a 600 ATK boost. This is pretty much a cheap field clearing effect that adds extra damage on top of it.

With C39- Ray, you pop an S/T, then you can pop a monster and deal 1200 damage, then swing directly for 3100. And you can do the pop + burn each turn.

I would give leniency because the anime DZW was absurd, but Scythe is like Chimera Cloth, only much more broken (Chimera Cloth required you to take Battle Damage with the equipped monster, and only got ridiculous because of Vector's Hundred-Over and Dark Zexal being insane). Firebird's not as bad, but the S/T pop on equip was unneeded. Also, the anime DZW negated the equipped monster's effects.

Just to clarify, [unless I made a typo somewhere] scythe's effect only triggers if the equipped monster battles something with higher ATK, thus for the ATK be quadrupled, your opponent would need to control a VERY high ATK monster during the 2nd battle.

I was in a hurry when I made firebird launcher, now I realize that it shouldn't destroy a spell/trap on equip. I'll fix that. Also I think that I'll add some limitation on the equipped monster's effects as you suggest.

Thanks for a good review.

edit: archfiend scythe was supposed to be a shot at an anime chimera cloth like effect btw.
