Something to use against Pendulum Monsters

welp, I have seen many Pendulum Monsters here, and each of them, including those existed 2, have very powerful mechanic, so I decided that there should be something to use against them, (though it also rely on Pendulum Summoning too XD)

Cannot be Special Summoned by card effects. When this card is Special Summoned: You can draw cards equal to number of cards in your opponent's Pendulum Card Zones. During either player's turn: You can target 1 face-up Spell/Trap Card your opponent controls; destroy that target, and if that card is a Monster card, gain Life Points equal to half of its ATK. You can only activate 1 "Celestial Dragon" effect per turn, and only once that turn.

 

Note: I still want someone to confirm that monsters with "Cannot be Special Summoned by Card effects" can be Pendulum Summoned, and if that's true, I guess that this clause will be seen in many monsters like "can't be used as Synchro Material" did for those Xyz Shenanigans, CnC appreciated

Yeah, Pendulum Summoning is not part of the effect of any card, but a new inherent Summon mechanic, just like Normal Summon is, so you are good.

 

The last bit sounds awkward but I see what you were going for, being able to also gain Life Points off of Plasma/Relinquished Equips or Union Monsters besides Pendulum Monsters.

 

You should make the draw effect optional since as it currently is, you are forced to draw when it's Special Summoned and you'll never be able to destroy a Spell/Trap card this way within that turn even if you wanted to.

 

Speaking of, the draw effect is currently pretty good. I like how it sounds, although in the future it could be pretty broken since it's gonna be the style the game is pointing at to have for the next few years, so the conditions will be laughable eventually, making this card not ideal for future design.

And the fact that it needs Pendulums on itself to work, makes it not so much an antithesis to the mechanic, but just a very powerful tool for such mechanic.

 

Though I liked the concept, and the Special Summon drawback is pretty original.
