Life Changing Experiences

Hey guys!  As you know, everyone has life changing experiences, both good and bad.  I've had my fair share of them over the years while I've been on YCM, and I'm sure you guys have, too!  So, here are a few of mine, just listed in chronological order.

  • Parents get divorced a little bit after the time I joined YCM.  Leaves me rather sad.
  • I meet some of my best friends here, Agro and Kyng, and they've been pretty consistent since then.
  • I come out as transgender here and am met with very positive responses.  Gives me a lot of confidence.
  • My mother gets re-married.  Shortly thereafter, my father gets remarried as well.
  • I begin transitioning to female on my eighteenth birthday.

So, what are some personal things that you've gone through on your time at YCM?  This place really makes me think about mine, and I'm sure it does to you too.

  • In Seventh Grade, before I joined YCM, I hung out with a crappy group of friends and started smoking. I didn't get addicted, but the group changed my attitude a bit where I became selfish
  • Started dancing around 5th grade, went into the most changing experience in my life since I find ways to just take and focus my energy into something creative.
  • My 9th Grade history teacher and English teacher kind of changed my life by giving me one on one help with school, and others.
  • In 8th Grade, I got to go to a School Conference with a friend of mine, where it focused on different types of schooling that exists.
  • My friends both in real life and on the internet are some of the best people in the world for me. I don't need to say why, I should say that you guys are fucking awesome.
  • I dated this girl for about a year and we broke it off because it was boring. Still one of the best situations for me in my love life.
  • When I came out as gay in 7th grade, I went to a party where I got beaten up. The people there were fucking horrible.
  • I came out again as pansexual in 9th grade, and again got abused. It was more verbal, and a lot more consistent for a while.

Around when I was in first grade, my parents divorced and we moved south. I lived with my grandmother for a while, things were okay then.

Then I moved to my biological father and stepmothers house, and fucking hell they ruined my life. Abuse was daily and awful. My stepmother HATED me. I basically shut myself in and they're the reason that I can't socialize to this day...

Got away from them after a year thankfully because my mother remarried and my new stepfather agreed to take us in. I've lived with them since, so it's been about 7-8 years now.

Middle School was uneventful, I continued to be shut in, and I didn't find YCM until around late eighth grade early Freshman year. High School I joined and posted a little, and this was when I met Black. Halfway through my freshman year, we started dating. Honestly, that was the biggest life changing event for me, and I'm really thankful for it.

There's probably more, but a big chunk of my memory is gone from when I lived with my biological father and her, so I can't really say anything from that period.

Parents got divorced God knows how long ago and I was too young to really understand what was going on. Probably for the better since my dad is a dying old man who can't even look after himself, let alone a family.

Met my now ex-girlfriend online in September 2012 and she ended up being a clingy manipulative bitch who ruined/took away my life for a year and a half. I wasn't allowed to talk to ANYONE except her and she had the notion that she was the only thing that mattered to me... Luckily we aren't together any more.

My grandma died in June last year and my grandpa met this other woman who is really difficult and way too open about religion and she started telling me that God loved me and Jesus loved me when I was depressed... I'm not anti-religion as such but when I, as an atheist, am being told that God loves me as a way of cheering me up, that is just infuriating.

  1. Overall, repeatedly lose people in my life for a myriad of reasons
  2. After 4th grade, changed from public school to private Christian academy
  3. Parents got divorced when I was 11, going on 12
  4. Always never quite fitting in, most friends backstab me, even friends mock me so much that I cry at school almost every day.
  5. Dad used sister as a ram to push my mom down, then tried to storm out with her before mom called the cops
  6. Royal Fuck Up that shall not be named
  7. Music and games were my only real refuges, and I delved into them.
  8. Moved to New Jersey after Freshman year
  9. Reconnect with an old friend from 7th/8th grade while in Jersey, become best friends, fall for her
  10. She also ends up leaving my life, getting mad that I chewed out an ex who cheated on her. Turns out she still had feelings for them.
  11. Found YCM right before that.
  12. Already covered most of YCM in other thread, bar DEF and the YMB
  13. Met Caeda/Kazooie/Birdie/Bree, and talked for a while. Eventually realized i loved her, truly, from the bottom of my heart a little over a week before I confessed. I confessed because I... I felt it was unfair to hide it from her. It wasn't the normal feeling, it was just deep devotion to her happiness. So I told her I had feelings for her. And this... led to three years together, an many more wonderful years to come.
  14. Became a mod, which had ups and downs. Lost modship later, due to trying to remove a moderator who I felt was bad for the site. Spun as a selfish attempt, but given that 2-3 other mods did the same thing, just in email instead of PM, I assure you it wasn't just me being mad that I was called out for "name changing too much", and more to do with the fact I felt they were cancerous to the site as a member of the team, as did others.
  15. Compounding on modship, it made me feel elated that I got the position when I did... and was very soon a hit to my self esteem, which caused a chain of being harsher, more negative feedback, harsher, etc. Negative development for me all around.
  16. Became best friends with a crazy cat and a robotic monkey over time

I think that's everything, without going on forever.

I joined YCM about a month before starting college. This was how I spent my free time. Whether or not you consider that a good thing is up for debate, although it may have hurt my grades at certain times.

I do know that this site has, above all else, greatly improved my social abilities and awareness. As an ADD + Aspergers kid, I'd always been pretty bad with picking up social cues, but coming out of my shell and learning how to make friends are a few of the cool things this site has miraculously taught me.

Plus I've met a lot of people who've had trouble in their lives that I haven't had. I've been rather blessed with a peaceful life with great people all around me. Learning about the struggles of others and how others think and their beliefs have been very helpful for my own development as a person, as well as just a writer.

Only thing that's truly regressed has been my procrastination issues, which have continuously gotten worse since I joined.

Also, I get really worried things I regret I've done here will haunt me for the rest of my life, but that's a whole other issue...

  • I met lots of interesting and good people in the Akatsuki of YCM, The Chibi Knights, The Fake Type Knights, Order of the Black Knights, The Multiverse, Org. 13 and YCMaker Hotel, all mostly through 2010-2012.
  • My mom had a bout with breast cancer at the end of my junior year. I lost one of my grandfathers and my aunt (died too young) earlier that year too.
  • I got my first job as a busser mid-2010 and gained a lot of experiences I'll never forget. The long nights, working with other people from all walks of life, and I ate ribs there for the first time and now they're in my top 5 foods. I've also b*tched about it countless times on here as well.
  • People on here showed me animes like Code Geass, Gurren Lagann and Angel Beats on here. The rest is history.
  • Writing Trio of DEF throughout junior year definitely hit my grades a bit and even though it's been a bit of a headache from then even up until now, it got me more interested in writing and storytelling and I don't regret it one bit.
  • My cousin became ostracized from the rest of our family because of certain life choices. It made me realize that no family's perfect and how important it really is.
