Golden Soul of Summoning

Once per turn: you can banish 3 monsters from your Graveyard; Special Summon 1 Level 5 or higher monster from your hand or Deck. Summoned monster cannot be used as a Material for Xyz, Synchro or Fusion Summon of a monster. During each of your Standby Phase, pay 800 Life Points or destroy this card. You can only control 1 face-up "Golden Soul of Summoning".

Maybe OP-so I think it's effect needs to be more balanced.

What do you think about this effect?

I know that effect is a bit OP, I just don't know how to make it more balanced. I don't have any idea.

I found image on Imgur.

Well, with how it's written, you can have three copies of the card on the field and you can banish 9 monsters total from your Graveyard to Special Summon something with a level higher than 5.

So a step towards balanced would probably changing the effect from "Once per turn:"  to making the last sentence "You can only use this effect of "Golden Soul of Summoning" once per turn." so you can only use one.

It's a nice card, though. It can just cause some loops is all.

Well it can't really cause "loops"... It can open up some potentially powerful doors (One turn Number 92 :O) but because of its cost, there is really no way to truly "loop" it, even if you can potentially use its effect more than once per turn. But that exists with any card that says once per turn.

Regardless, it is certainly a neat card. I don't really think it is over powered, as most things that could be dangerous to get out with this either can't be special summoned by it, or wont be too appreciative of having to banish 3 monsters for it. Or won't be worth it.

Yeah, I guess I was just exaggerating.

I feel that a SS from the deck is a bit OP but i do like the effect. What you could do is something along the lines of "Special Summon a level 5 or higher monster from your hand OR 1 Level 4 or lower monster from your deck." How about that?

For the cost of banishing 3 monsters? Uhm, no.

At first glance, I thought that too. But banishing 3 monsters from the Graveyard's a pretty big cost.
I still think that a "You can only use this effect once per turn clause" would make this card more balanced, since this card is pretty OTK-Friendly.

No its not. And if it is, then you kinda deserve it for banishing 9 monsters.

-------updated-------

Now the card is horrible. Makes the monster a legitimate vegetable. Went from a 2-3 to a 0.

So, do you think I should remove attacking and Special Summon from Extra Deck restriction?

OTK-friendly or not, everyone in this thread seems to have forgotten that this card Summons huge monsters from the Deck for a "cost" that isn't actually a cost but just to require Graveyard setup. Maybe there isn't anything relevant that becomes top-tier with this since most targets don't fit into a relevant Deck, but you still can SS a 3000 Barbaros, Grapha, Battleguard King, or Hyperion among many other things from thin air. If it were real, it would restrict card design since "fling Maindeck boss from Maindeck for free kinda" would be a thing.

This card needs either a cost that actually forces the user to pay, or to stack some sort of restriction(s) on either that monster or the player for using it.

I can get behind this. But the restrictions that are now on it just make it useless. I say get rid of the can't attack, and add some other cost or drawback. Discarding doesn't seem right because it just means further setup for the banishing. Life Point cost is obviously the easiest to slap on.

Added the cost. Do you think 800 is OK or it needs to be higher.

Archlord Kristya . . . And a lot other fairy stuffs. Though I'm not very sure on how fast they can fill their grave. Never played fairies, and rarely encounter one.

In dragon ruler perhaps? As they fill the grave pretty fast, and it only needs 1 more monster to banish if compared to dragon rulers.

And in shaddoll, as shaddolls can fill the grave pretty quick from my experience. So, yeah, Archlord Kristya, BEWD, and some useful level 8 monsters for 3 Trade-In welcomes this card in shaddolls.

Anything else perhaps?

Also, the picture there depicts 4 cards. Why banishing only 3?

Banishing 3 to summon a 4th.

Everything else you mentioned is irrelevant because like I said, in those scenarios either it's a waste to banish 3 monsters for one, or that monster you're summoning isnt very appreciative of having its companions banished.

I made the cost optional. If I made effect to banish 2 monsters with the same level instead of  banishing any 3 monster cards, would that be better?

I really like the banishing 3 monsters, I think it's a nice counter-balance to the ability to get big guys like Kristya out on somewhat of a whim, but not so big that it isnt worth running. And as long as that summoned monster isnt restricted too heavily (I think if need be the no Fusing Synching or Xyzing restriction would be fine, but don't know if it is necessary) then I think its a very nice card.
