Ren✧
1 Tuner monster + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters During either player's Battle Phase, you can Synchro Summon this card, except during the Damage Step, by sending the appropriate materials from your hand or field to the Graveyard. Each player can only activate this effect of "Blitz Ranger" once per turn. If you do, this card can attack your opponent directly, but when it uses this effect, any Battle Damage it would inflict to your opponent is halved. If this card is destroyed by battle and sent to the Graveyard: Return 1 monster used as a Synchro Material to Summon this card from your Graveyard to your hand. "I'll make this quick. Synchro Summon! Blitz Ranger!" I've seen lots of talk about improving the current state of the RC section and I very much want to be a part of that. Fortunately, my current break from school allows me more time to spend wasted on the computer as my future continues to slip away with you guys and the community. Last year, I started and finished a challenge that I gave to myself to create 100 Single Custom Cards in a year. It was a simple, obtainable goal that I quickly reached long before the deadline. However, while that task was more or less an easy feat, it accomplished something that I had personally never done. Furthermore, if I am allowed to brag on myself a little, I think it brought a little more activity to the section. That's what I am hoping for again. More activity! I am especially looking at our more veteran members that have decided that they are done with card making. Truth be told, most of us came here for that intention, and there is nothing wrong with continuing. What I want from you newer members, is to watch and learn. That wasn't as conceded as it may have sounded. I am not claiming to be the best card maker, or even a good card maker, but I would like to think that there are a few things that I can pass on from my time here. So, for those of you that read up top, this is the start of my second 100 Single Challenge. However, instead of having the luxury of an entire year, I have put the deadline at August 31st, 2014. A mere 68 days away. I invite you, I am talking to each and every person on YCM, to join me in my challenge. Imagine. Design. Create. Learn. Fix. Repeat. Set a goal and reach it. Hopefully I won't be alone when I reach the finish line. EDIT: For clarification purposes, I want to everyone to note that this challenge is entirely a personal endeavor. You are not helping me reach 100 cards and I am not helping you. This is intended for each and everyone of us to learn our own strengths and weaknesses as card makers and improve upon those areas that are in need of it. Sander
non-generic Level 5 Synchro monster with a OPD SS ability that makes it even weaker. Why would I waste my Extra Deck space on something like this when Armades, Keeper of Boundaries is the best option? The only thing this card is good for is either a bad distributive card or bad tribute fodder, which is too wasteful of resources. Right, it is Level 5, so there is a chance of it being used as an Xyz Material, but no actual competitive Decks run Level 1 LIGHT Tuners, so that point is moot. Ren✧
no actual competitive Decks run Level 1 LIGHT Tuners, so that point is moot. Granted I have lost touch with the games most current format(i.e. Shadolls & Masked Heroes), but I can't imagine that there are NO competitive decks that don't run this guy. Or at least some decks that could be considered semi-competitive. Also, you point out a lot of what you think is wrong with the card, or not really what is actually wrong with the card but rather that the card as a whole is just generally a piece of crap, but you don't offer anyway to improve upon it. I mean I realize that to be a competent card maker that you need to be able to find flaws for yourself, but you couldn't give any suggestions whatsoever? Also, perhaps it wasn't made to be run in Tier 0, mechanical 'draw' 'summon' 'attack' 'repeat' type of dueling. In addition, there is nothing wrong, in my opinion, with creating a card that can just be run casually. Besides, I really don't want to just create cards that further the speed game of competitive dueling. Funnily enough, I WANT there to be player interaction. I WANT there to be last ditched plays. I WANT there to be the magic of the destiny draw. I don't know maybe, I'm too emotionally invested in making cards that foster a fun spirit in a children's card game, but really that is beside the point that I want to be making. There is literally nothing about your comment that is constructive! If you think it is a shit card, fine. But at least take the time to give suggestions on how to improve or give direction towards what you would think would be the right path if you are going to take the time to shit on the card anyway. mikel.
*Rises Hand* O! O! My turn! 1 LIGHT Tuner monster + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters This card can be Synchro Summoned in Attack Position during either player's Battle Phase, except during the Damage Step, by sending the appropriate materials from your hand or field to the Graveyard. Each player can only use this effect of "Blitz Ranger" once per Duel. If this card is Special Summoned this way: Its ATK is halved and it can attack directly. If this card is destroyed by battle and sent to the Graveyard: Place 1 card in your Graveyard on the top of your Deck. Underline=My thought of fails in design Bold=My thought of Awesomeness in design Review: Alright, using effect Veiler as declared is quite a smart way to return Veiler into use(not that he wasn't any good-just lost his frame), on topic the 1 light Tuner slows the card to making it genetic and predictable. Fix that with adding some more options of having ANY level 1 working for the synchro. Flaw-Notice it has to be at either the start of battle on declaration of attack or end of attack, this gives the counterattack action when you'd give the opponent the chance to rethink their attack: nothing wrong here just a pointing to it. The "once per Dual" is a kill for a card that could be getting run twice, why make it a once a use-card; I personally find it capable of staying alive as a semi-limited card. Now the main point: "Place 1 card in grave-top deck" nah! that's just too good: even with once per dual it's still too God damn gooood! Fix this by adding gentrification into it(e.g: Monster/Used materials/itself). Don't kill me
Nightmare Stomper
Looking at this, I see lots of dirty Quasar Level Eater shenanigans. But that's ok; this is yugioh. As you have it set up now, you cannot actually use this card - it is not Spell Speed 2. Now it is Spell Speed 2, and the effect is a little bit more balanced - (avoiding skill drain ATK boost, also, a more usable direct attach mechanic). It's a decent card, and I wouldn't mind it in the game at all. The recycle-a-card ability is OP, so I put a little restriction on that. 1 LIGHT Tuner monster + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters During either player's battle phases, you can Synchro Summon this card in faceup attack position by sending the appropriate Synchro Material Monsters from your hand or side of the Field to the Graveyard. If you do, this card's original ATK becomes 1100. Each player can only use this effect of "Blitz Ranger" once per Duel. If this card's ATK is lower than its original (printed) ATK; this card can attack your opponent directly. If this card is destroyed by battle and sent to the Graveyard: Your opponent selects 1 Spell/Trap card in your Graveyard and places it on top of your Deck. Ren✧
Thank you both for your helpful suggestions! Corrections have been made, but not exactly what you guys had in mind. I switched it to only be able to be summoned once per turn and the recycle effect has been changed as well. I made it generic like Amaterasu suggested. Tell me what you guys think. I am thinking about adding in a 'If this card would be returned to the Extra Deck; banish it." clause so that it can't keep being reused. At this point I don't think it is necessary, but if for some reason it has ventured into OP territory, I am ready to make that change if needed. mikel.
Round two, Fight! 1 Tuner monster + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters During either player's Battle Phase, you can Synchro Summon this card, except during the Damage Step, by sending the appropriate materials from your hand or field to the Graveyard. Underline=My thought of fails in design Bold=My thought of Awesomeness in design Strike though=My though on what I felt to take out Score: As 8.5 being a card to have in any deck for it's quick on summon gives the edge over the opponent and it's fun to use, also it supports young little weak monsters to fight, I don't give it a 9 for it's ATK...but that quick on the go is what really shines though as it might become a player's favorite card to play. I don't know. Having a monster that can attack directly with 2200 ATK? That seems to be a bit much to me... But thank you for the rating and score! Nightmare Stomper
Perhaps you could just have Crystal Beast Amethyst Cat's effect to halve damage on direct attacks, instead of weakening the warrior.....
