older cards that can support Qliphoth, which ones to consider?

Recommended Posts

as we all know, the qliphoth are a set of monsters based around pendulum setups into tribute summoning, and that got me thinking about what could help this deck out.

so I'm doing a gab bag for all the older cards so we can do this em mass.

might be useful, but likely no deck space in any good final builds

now this could be useful, and I could just imagine what happens to the deck's draw power if this stays for more than one turn. definitely something that needs to be tested in my book.

now this one I can also see being useful, since the backrow will have to be the answer to these monster most days. also still draws cards, like above.

I could see use for this, though trap stun and lance are seriously better options. does allow creature negation too however, which might prove useful. likely another to be tossed for the better options.

can definitely be useful, that no extra deck summoning though is a heavy drawback, considering that is where most of the pendulum tribute supply should come from after the first one hits the field. maybe side deck material.

obvious high level machine deck, and even if your scales are already set and your can't special summon it, you can still tribute summon t and trigger off those effects. I"d consider 1 or 2 in the deck as a good backup if they keep targeting the scales to keep you form pendulum summoning.

another potential draw source, the graveyard recovery could become useful.

hey look, a deck that can actually get off the 3 tribute effect for little cost. it nukes, and still is that 1900 beater, I"d run a copy or two.

so, what do you think? can any of these cards shine in this deck, or would they only fit into sub-par builds?  there other older cards that might help as well?

I'll go in order.

Advance Force: Doesn't quite work because when you Pendulum the Tributes back they'll be Level 4, not their original Levels.

Precious Cards from Beyond: Its an interesting thought, but I think just running Yamata Dragon would be preferable.

Advance Zone: You're never going to get the 3 effect off for the most part, the 1 effect is inferior to Genome, and the 2 effect isnt terribly helpful when they have Yamata Dragon again, and Tool to just search the Qliphoths they need/deck thin.

Overwhelm: Interesting, but I'm not really sold on it. You have a Monarch(s) out more than you have one of the big Qliphoths, I think this would be dead more often than not. Wiretap would be better.

March of the Monarchs: Kind of defeats the purpose of Penduluming back little Qliphoths as Tributes. Return of the Monarchs is fine because it gets a search out and you can then use Kuraz or Genome to destroy it with no penalty, but this just seems like a waste of space.

Machina Fortress: Would be too dead since you cant Special Summon non-Qliphoths. More importantly, you dont want your Qliphoths in the Graveyard.

Trial and Tribulation: Similar reasoning as Advance Zone.

Beats King Barbaros: This is actually a potentially interesting tech. I don;t really have an opinion on it at this time.

I actually missed that, I didnt notice it said special summon as well. okay, that's out the window.

each would have their advantages, to be certain

I'm kinda thinking the same. just thought hey, minster and traps, needs to be looked at

March of the Monarchs: Kind of defeats the purpose of Penduluming back little Qliphoths as Tributes. Return of the Monarchs is fine because it gets a search out and you can then use Kuraz or Genome to destroy it with no penalty, but this just seems like a waste of space.

the point is that when you got one the huge ones out, a 2800 that effectively immune to every card effect they have creates a signifigant problem, if the scales are set too, they would need a monster that can reach 3401 to beat it. not much else would work I think.

Machina Fortress: Would be too dead since you cant Special Summon non-Qliphoths. More importantly, you dont want your Qliphoths in the Graveyard.

true enough. just thinking machines.

Trial and Tribulation: Similar reasoning as Advance Zone.

Call me bad, but I actually like the idea of Overwhelm.

It's sad that no one mentioned Granmarg the Mega Monarch since he's actually possible to use and all the Qllipoths are EARTH, so you get his EARTH eff.  Then again, he requires Return to be useful and only hitting Set cards kills his potential.
