Starry-Eyes Enigma Dragon
Had a decent idea for an effect while helping out another user, thought I'd play around with it. I'm going to be making a series of cards based around the art of Pete Mohrbacher (can be found on DA). His art is very cool and also downright inspiring. He includes a poem with most of the pieces, and I'll be basing the effects around what the poetry and the art itself has to say (Hope that didn't sound too pretentious). This is the first of those. As for this card specifically, I'm pretty happy with what it does, but I'm not sure how I feel about how gets there. Any suggestions are welcome. Effect: Negate the effects of monsters your opponent controls with ATK up to 300 points lower or higher than this card's current ATK. Once per turn, during either player's turn: You can discard 1 Spell/Trap card from your hand OR send 1 Spell/Trap Card you control to the Graveyard; this card gains/loses ATK up to 1000 (this is a Quick Effect). This card gains the following effects depending on its current ATK. * Less than 2000: This card cannot be destroyed by battle. * More than 2000: This card cannot attack. * More than 3000: Destroy this card. Thanks for reading.
Jsevillamol
I don't fully understand the effect. Does it mean that it negates effect of monster whose attack is exactly 300 points lower or higher than this cards actual attack? Or between 300 points lower and 300 points higher? I'll interpret it is the last one, and I have to tell it is an interesting albeit gimmicky effect. The attack restriction seems fair enough. One note aside, I would change the discard to send, as cards cannot be discarded from the field. Keep up working ;)
Flash Flyer - Sakura
Negate the effects of monsters your opponent controls with ATK up to 300 points lower or higher than this card's current ATK. As above user already said, you don't "discard" from the field; only send. I fixed the OCG to reflect this change. Upon summoning, stuff with 1700-2300 ATK are essentially neutered; though at this point, the bottom three effects don't do much. Based on its effects, you can essentially keep this on the field until you hit 3000 ATK, neutering 2700-3300 ATK monsters [which is most ace monsters in Decks nowadays, save for a couple Rank-Ups]. That being said, if ATK is 2000 < n < 3000; it can't attack; and when it goes over that limit, it kills itself. Having battle protection is nice (when it gets below the 2k mark), but keep in mind effect removal is common. It's a bit weird in its applications (and since I don't know the poems that this card refers to, I can't really say much). It's nice for keeping boss monsters in check, but there is a limit to what it can do.
thlch
I think this card has a very original effect, but you could turn this card into a fortuity card by enabling the opponent to also manipulate the ATK of this monster. Would be quite interesting to see something like that imho. That being said, I love the art & also the main idea of the effect. Way to go! Starry-Eyes Enigma Dragon
Thank you all for the comments. It's a bit weird in its applications (and since I don't know the poems that this card refers to, I can't really say much). It's nice for keeping boss monsters in check, but there is a limit to what it can do. This particular one actually doesn't have a poem with it. I had to sort of make up a name for it, too, as it's not a part of Mohrbacher's "Angelarium" series... it's just a random piece he did that I felt fit with the others. The other 5 I'll be using are all from the Angelarium series and have actual mythological names, and those 5 all have poems that are like prayers to these angels. Also, thanks for the OCG fix, Sakura.
