A better boss monster for Volcanics than Volcanic Doomfire.

 

Easily Summoned just by Tributing a FIRE monster, compared to needing to use Tri-Blaze Accelerator for Doomfire. The result is a monster with 2900 ATK with a "you WILL come at me!" effect, slightly short of 3000 on Doomfire, but still gets the job done.

 

The other thing that sets them apart is the burn effects. Doomfire requires you to more or less go aggressive to trigger its Raigeki-and-Desserts-on-kill effect, which puts it at odds with the rest of the usual Volcanic strategy that often ends up trading the ability to attack for field control. Meanwhile, Hellfire Dragon doesn't mind and keeps pelting the opponent with at least 1450 damage a turn if it can't get to attack, which I find is more consistent as you're more or less confirmed to get the effect off at least once, while Doomfire gets played around with removal.

 

Not to mention Hellfire Dragon can fit into other non-Volcanic Decks that run their share of FIRE monsters.

As an easy-to-Summon beater, the card is not bad. It might not have and effect that either protects it or generates card advantage, which nowadays are perks that boss monsters must have if they want a chance in the metagame, but what this card has going for it is the potential of inflicting heavy damage if the opponent is not careful. Its type helps the card too, since it makes it searchable by Blaster, and it can be summoned by REDMD. By the way, I find amusing how this card could work really well along "Poke Draco".

 

Suggestions:

- Change its Level to either 7 or 10 to allow Xyz plays along Blaster or REDMD.

- Add an effect that generates advantage (e.g. destroy/banish a card on the field, your opponent discards 1 card, etc., add X card to your hand), floats (e.g. If this card is remvoed from the field: insert effect here) or protects the monster (e.g. this card is unaffected by Trap Cards/monster effects) to compensate the monster you Tributed for this card. I would suggest an specific effect but I have no idea of what kind of effect you would like so I will leave it to you.

Well, this card is slow, but when it works... it works insanely.

Thank you so much. Exactly, this card was desined to be a generic FIRE attributed boss monsters. It's not as strong as, for example, Agent of DW boss monsters, but it's more splashable than those. I actually want to build a deck around FIRE Dragons with this card added.

Thanks for the response. I don't want to give it another effect, as it is just too splashable and generic to be as good as the best boss monsters, but the level modification is a good idea. I'm not sure if it should be LV7 or 10, though, but I wanted to make it LV9 since it's a non-supported level (not as much as LV11, but still weak).
