Hazy Flame Sphynx

Your opponent cannot target this card with card effects. You can declare 1 card type (Monster, Spell, or Trap); send the top card of your Deck to the Graveyard, then if it was the declared card type, you can Special Summon 1 FIRE monster from your hand or Graveyard. You can only use this effect of "Hazy Flame Sphynx" once per turn.

So.. with Card Advance allowing you to look at the top 5 cards of your deck, you're basically gonna get the SS off because you know what'll be on top, although it's only a suggestion and it's probs not worth it, discuss?

Second best main deck HF after Peryton.

Card Advance doesn't seem worthy to me at all in the deck though. Dead draws all day long.

Not if you play it right. It's not always you have Hazy Pillar or Glory out, especially since it's so easy to destroy S/T nowadays, with Hands being popular and all.

But I still have to test it to see how it truly fares. I think at least 2 of them may benefit the Deck immensely, at least in terms of Sphynx plays. I'm tired of wasting her effect so often.

If you think having Pillar or Glory out doesnt happen that often, having something to tribute (in a deck where you don't really want to tribute your monsters) is even rarer. If you know the rates of your deck you can make a good Sphinx call, and even if you miss, it's not that big of a deal, you can always go for a 2-mat Rank 6 (if you summoned Sphinx with Peryton, that is).

I would not run Card Advance in Hazys because you don't tribute summon often, and abandoning pillars for this seems inconsistent to me.

I do like this card though, as Wildflame says if you're paying attention to what you've played you've got a good chance of getting the effect. That said I'd say its probably only the 4th best card, I run it at 2. My opinions generally as follows:

Cereberus is essential for consistency because it's your searcher.

Peryton is essential for your swarming and explosive plays.

Hydra buffs your xyzs/gives you solda access, both very important.

Then for me its Sphynx, which helps you extend or is a backup peryton option.

Hyppogrif was ok when rekindling was at 3, now its just pointless though.

Mantikor is just not worthwhile most of the time.

Griffin is too restrictive.

I see Card Advance's extra Tribute Summon as a bonus that can come in handy in some situations, but its main benefit is the "look at the top cards of your Deck and rearrange them at will" for Sphynx. It would NEVER take Glory or Pillar's place. But I must test it before giving my final veredict.
