LegoLord91
GEONIMALS There are two things that give me the feels in any archetype: 1) It is combo oriented and focuses on wise management and utilization of your resources, 2) It has fun and creative card art, card names, and play style. Without further ado, I would like to introduce my first post on YCM: The Geonimals. Not only is this a self-drawn archetype, but it is near and dear to my heart as a math nerd. Each monster card represents an animal and a geometric shape (hence the name), with the level of each monster represented by the sides of its respective shape. The animal side represents their monster form, while the shape side represents their spell form. Geonimal monster effects, and support cards, either focus on using or replenishing other Geonimals in your Spell & Trap Card Zone, which can lead to unique combos and gnarly boss monsters. Please check this set out. I am very excited about it and I look forward to your feedback! (p.s. I did all of the artwork in Microsoft paint) [spoiler='Monsters'][spoiler='Cirgull] PUN: Circle + Seagull EFFECT: You can tribute one face-up "Geonimal" monster you control to Special Summon this card from your Spell & Trap Card Zone. Mdoraz
Well I appreciate the fact that you made all of the art yourself. That being said, your deck is very similar to crystal beasts, but instead of different types of gems behind the monster, there are shapes. Constructively, I would say the deck needs more ways of getting monsters into the spell/trap zone, because right now i think you only have like 3 ways of getting them into your spell/trap zone, while all your monsters use them for their effects. All crystal beasts have an effect that instead of being sent to the graveyard, you can se them into your spell/trap zone instead, maybe your monsters could have a similar effect? LegoLord91
Thank you for the feedback Mdoraz! I very much appreciate it! I see your point and I will take it into consideration. As it stands, I tried to keep the effects balanced between replenishing and utilizing cards in the Spell & Trap Card Zone. Aside from the extra deck, there are 7 cards in the main deck that place a Monster into the Spell & Trap Card Zone, and there are 5 cards that use them for effects. I guess the only way to know if that is a good enough balance would be to somehow test these cards out. Or maybe I should work on more support cards and/or edit Monster effects that place more Monsters into the Spell & Trap Card Zone? My only concern is that being able to easily dump more cards into the Spell & Trap Card Zone will take away from the point of having to manage your resources carefully. Or maybe the deck doesn't generate enough resources for the necessary effects. You have given me much to think about Mdoraz! Thank you!

xSycoGoat
I can test these but I think your synchro's ATK, DEF and especially levels are too high. They should be level 7 and 8's since your tuners are 3 and 4, and most of your other monsters are level 4. If you wanted them to be hard to summon, you could even make them a level 6 since you need either 3 gulls and trieagle or squarrel and 2 gulls. (I thing Decaphant could be a level 6 but lower the ATK and DEF first because of its effect.) I know the levels are equal to the shapes sides but the higher levels may be harder to get on the field. I also think you need more support cards to add the monsters to the spell/trap zone. Squarrel could be a level 3. Heptapotomus will be your best card in this deck for adding cards to your duel. What is the use of the equipped monster on Octapus? It seems pretty useless unless 'Creature Swap' is used. Dodecadragon's effect says "Once per turn, you can send 1 "Geonimal" card to the graveyard" where from? monster card zones, spell/trap, or hand? Just specify that. Other than that, these could make a good deck. Better than Crystal Beasts in my opinion.
LegoLord91
Thanks xSycoGoat! I will definitely lower their ATK and DEF, but I'd really like to keep the levels the same. Since they all have the gimmick of being able to Special Summon themselves from the Spell & Trap Card Zone, maybe by adding more support of placing them there it would be easier to pull off the high level synchros? I intended for Octapus to be Silent HONOR Arkish by just getting a nuisance Monster off my opponents field. And thanks for pointing out Dodecadragon. I meant to specify, but I guess I got ahead of myself! Thanks again for the feedback!
Marco Polo
:O Awesome mph, awesome. The naming is genius, pentaguin, heptapotamus, I mean like, wow. I am absolutely blown off, don't know why, the naming, idea, etc is fantastic. The art is top notch for MS Paint (if you're into making card art I'd suggest you something I'm start aswell, looking at this I believe you're worlds better with pencil and paper, I recommend you try and buy a graphic tablet, and begin making actual realistic card art, let not this go to waste.) card backgrounds are a nice touch. You sort of blew it with the effects though, it's like crystal beast all over again with random touches It's not interesting as you tried to sell it in the head of the thread. I like how the naming fits the geometric figure which fits the level but if it just could fit the effect as well it could've been better. So far it's like "tribute geonimal - special summon me" pasted over to 10 cards and then some random okay effect following that clause.. If I were you I'd change the effects to something else entirely, do stuff that have something to do with shapes or the number of vertices or the attributes of the said shape. LegoLord91
Thank you for the feedback Marco Polo, I definitely see your point. The effects don't really match with the rest of the theme. I'll see if I can rework the strategy into something more fitting. I do appreciate how much you enjoy the creative aspect though! That means a lot to me! Styles25
I love this! This is an awesome idea! The names are creative and the fact that every card was drawn on paint is amazing! I think Konami should look at this idea and actually make these cards! As a fellow math nerd, I would have a ton of fun playing this deck! Nice job! Mdoraz
They did make this deck, they're called crystal beasts... Marco Polo is right, you should just change the effects entirely because they're basically bad versions of crystal beasts, the only thing you really have here is interesting self made art... Sorry man, the effort is nice, but these aren't very original...
LegoLord91
No offense taken! I appreciate all of the feedback guys! That's why I posted these cards; to fine tune them into something awesome, even if that means going back to the drawing board (Pun intended). A new strategy is currently brewing. I will post a new topic with the updated cards sometime soon. Thanks again everyone!
